Show 49 of Meeples & Miniatures – the podcast about Miniature Wargames & Strategy Boardgames – is now available to download.

Following on from playing the recently released Through the Mud and the Blood WWI skirmish rules at Salute, this show has an in-depth review of these great new rules from Too Fat Lardies, and I also discuss a couple of options for figures you can use with the game.

Other reviews include the re-launched Miniature Wargames magazine, and I also review the new Campaign Book, Volume 1 for Memoir ’44.

Finally, I take a few minutes to discuss why I’m an historical miniatures gamer, and why it’s such a great part of the wargaming hobby.

Enjoy the show!

Thanks for the great podcast, Neil.

"Through the Mud and the Blood" was a great review, although I got a little lost trying to follow the combat mechanics, what with the subtracting dies and pips. Never really heard about Too Fat Lardies until I started listening to your show. I kind of cringe because it might be another project that I would like to get involved in.

I can agree with your reason for gaming historical conflicts although I am an all opportunity gamer and will game most any period (historical, fantastical, or sci-fi-ical.)

Keep up the good work as your production quality keeps improving with each episode. Really enjoy what you are doing with the podcast.

Thanks again
