There are those who look at things the way they are and ask why . . . I dream of things that never were and ask why not
Not a full-blown session report. Just an anecdote.
On Turn 1, Joe and Mary met at The Lodge so that Joe could give her The Ancient Tome, her lore being at a higher value and easier to succeed.
While there, a lodge member asked her if she would like to find out what they were really about.
She has a chance for a couple of clues, a luck (+0) of four (with my settings) and blessed. All right. Why not?
She was devoured by The Black Man. I've seen more ones and twos. Just yesterday, in fact; but the character wasn't devoured.
I have horrible luck with her. Worse when she isn't blessed.

I always seem to do well when Mary is in the game. Heck, most of the time seeing her among the initial investigators makes me feel like this'll be an easy(ish) game, even though I haven't yet randomly drawn the GOO, just because Mary is in. And I don't use any houserules regarding her Blessing.
You just gotta channel your Blues Brothers when she's in the game.
"Ya see, me and the Lord have an understanding."
"We're on a mission from God."
OT: My fav line from my all-time fav movie though, is:
"Police Dispatcher: Use of unnecessary violence in the apprehension of the Blues Brothers HAS been approved."
EDIT: Almost forgot, I refer to her as "Mary, Mary, Oh Contrary". Then again, Darrell Simmons is called Russell in most games .
