It's done. After two weeks of bagging, sorting, and cataloging, I closed up the last box on my game collection. I said a sad goodbye before they go into storage for several years.

And that night, I found an errant marker on my desk, a shiny white square depicting a half-moon and a mysterious "3" beneath it.

It gnawed at me, knowing this chit would stay orphaned until I unpacked, and most likely would get lost in the gap. But I just couldn't recall where it belonged.

I scanned through my catalog list, page by page, hoping to jog my memory and find the right game. I browsed aimlessly through BGG listings hoping to get lucky, and I prepared to post here asking for identification help. I prayed it was from something I could reach with minimal unpacking.

All for nothing. My best friend, also a gamer, had planted the marker after helping me move the last boxes. He took the chit from his own copy of Fire in the East, a game I don't have, and secretly set it on my desk.

I need a few days to recover, and then I want revenge. Suggestions?

Golden, I gave you a smidge of Geek Gold to help ease the pain, that is something that your friend didn't get!

I suggest put some part of a game of his and set it into jelly (jello), thank you to The Office!

That's probably the most use he has gotten out of Fire in the East in years.... He is already being punished enough.

OTOH, you could always tell him you are interested in playing FITE and have him set the game up. Then when you go to his house tell him you changed your mind and want to play a game of Memoir '44 instead.

I've got a revenge gag for you that I used to run every now and then at various offices where I worked. It drives people nuts.

Get yourself a pack of small red dot stickers from an office supply store. Every so often, a couple of days apart, place a new red dot in an odd place (in his home): the top corner of a door, by the toilet, on a door jam, inside his medicine cabinet. At first he'll think nothing of it. But, over time it will begin to gnaw at him. Often the red dots are removed and discarded. Make sure to keep placing dots. Later on it'll bug him even more that the red dots keep appearing even though he keeps removing them. He'll ask you, "have you noticed these red dots?" You reply, "yeah, what's up with that."

It's a real mind screw. I know it sounds silly but it works every time and drives people nuts trying to figure out the mystery red dots and what the heck they're supposed to mean.

Sorry, no suggestions. I'm still recovering from the idea that you are going to put games in storage for several years! Mine have followed me around to several countries...

. . . and perhaps his wife when she decides someone is in the house when they're away. Make sure you keep everyone else well informed or he might come home to find a $7500 security system installed in the house.

I hold so much admiration for this prank I am not going to suggest anything vengeful. It's genius; simple and yet effective, executed with perfect timing.

Send an envelope with a blank piece of paper inside to him at his office/place of work. In the return address area in prominent red type put "Herpes Test Results. Personal and Confidential." You should be able to do this with any printer.

A variation of sorts on Isaac's suggestion above. A fellow teacher filled in for our principal while he was gone for a few days. (She was the matronly, quiet type. Hard to believe she did this!)

Martha wrote him notes re. various things that had come up during his absence. She numbered each Post-It and placed them in various locations everywhere around his office. She intentionally omitted one number. devil He spent HOURS looking for the "missing" one. Truly evil...
