If an attack with a ranged or magic weapon (i.e., bow or mage staff) is declared against an adjacent space, does the attack still qualify as a "ranged" or "magic" attack? Can the attacker choose to declare such an attack as a "melee" attack instead?

Thanks!

It is a ranged or magic attack even if it is against an adjacent space. The attacker may not declare it to be melee attack.

Magic: White Die
Range: Blue Die
Melee: Red Die

If you're ever in doubt about the attack you're using, check the dice.

Meeeh...

In RtL, there's at least one monster whose dice doesn't match its attack type. (The Golem, going from memory.)

The dice are a really good indicator, but the attack type is always stated on the monster card, or on the weapon card a hero is using.

Yes, RtL breaks a lot of the stereotypical Descent rules/assumptions, but 95% of the time the dice you use correspond to the attack you're using. I was just providing general advice.
