In response to the main criticism of the game, "it's too fast," I've been working on a blocking mechanic. This new rule, among others, will be included in the v.2 update and in the Extra Chunky expansion.
You can only attempt to block regular attacks. Called shots cannot be blocked. Successfully blocking an attack will reduce the number of hits from the attack to one and redirect the attack to your fighter’s body. Blocking does not count as an action.
To block an attack, roll the strike die. If you roll a body hit, the block is successful. Any other roll and the attack goes unblocked and resolves normally. Regardless of the result, any fighter who attempts to block an attack must use the weak hit die instead of his normal hit die if he attacks next round.
Blocking is done in response to an attack. It doesn't use your fighter's next action. The only drawback is that, if you attack next turn, you have to use the weak hit die. If you don't attack next turn (for example, you try to disarm or change weapons), then the drawback goes away.
