The bad one or the good one? (bad being the one featured as the official BGG image, good as the one with the evil-looking lord with a scroll and a henchman nearby).

Also, is Masquerade as red as it looks? Apparently the French version is not.

For what's worth, the bad one and yes, it is as red as it looks.

That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....

The bad one (official BGG image) is the English-language cover.

The nice-looking one is the German cover.

And to make matters worse, the German covers do a clever thing when you put them all together:

That sucks. The German cover was way better, and the French masquerade more balanced (maybe they made the English one red because more red = omg more seductive and intrigue-y -_-).

Wait... the red on the card art makes the card unbalanced?

Now that's new...

Edit: Btw, to all of you crying that the US version will not have the nice cover art:

1) Are you really keeping BOTH boxes!?
2) If you do, were you planning on keeping them face-front on the shelf!?!?

1. Yes
2. No, but they'll look great together on a game room wall.

Why do they keep you in a padded cell?

Have you seen the art on the US version? It's awful. Really truly awful. Love the game. I even like the varied art on the new cards... but that US Cover for Intrigue... Just Unholy Ugly.

Some of the cards are also very unattractive.
When Hans-im-Glück published their second printrun, I was very envious on the nice box-cover. But now I am on line with baba44713: I don't use the boxes anyway.

I have just added my Intrique cards to the base game and keep them all in small plastic box for trading cards. Much easier to carry around!
