Seriously, have you ever watched a horror movie? You expect me to believe that science can explain that?

But the original word is Gojira, which probably means that Goji Juice is holy.

Hah! So you're just going to ignore Dr. Frankenstein?

Typical. Real scientists are always misunderstood. Fictional ones even more so.

Ignore him? No!

But he created a monster! A monster, I say!

Did I say he created a monster? I think I did.

See? I told you he was misunderstood.

He built a carbon based robot in order to 1) Fight the global "rabies" pandemic (Frankenstein meets The Wolfman) 2) Cheer us up (Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein) and 3) Research our concept of sexuality (Bride of Frankenstein).

But do you give him his props? NOOoooooo! To you, science simply created a "monster."

I suppose you would require a supernatural explanation for the existence of a giant ant colony, too! "Oooh, God MUST have created 'THEM.' Macro evolution can't possibly work fast enough over a single generation to produce such a startling change, even under the influence of radiation." Pah!

You have an interesting theory. What if... I know this may sound crazy but what if the supernatural and science were working together to create these beings?

Notice how quozl just ignores how it was science that let Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum on Independence Day. It was science that let Jodie Foster contact her dad with that giant science machine. It was science that let Lukas Haas and Sylvia Sydney defeat the Martians when the attacked.

Where was your religion then?

Science? No.

Religion? No.

It was faith!

I think that you are only focusing on the silly exterior of this thread and not seeing the seriousness at its core.

How many times did the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise (both under Captain/Admiral Kirk and Captain Picard) save us using reason, logic, and Science?

This is an excellent question!

I pose it our scientist experts who are reading this thread.

As for my answer....

Reason? Yes.

Logic? Yes.

Science? No. Everyone knows that Scotty was using black magic to fix the engines!

Hell, the Ghostbusters used Science to show supernatural who's in charge of NYC.

Batman uses science to take down everyone!

The Doctor has faced down everything using his Time MACHINE...a.k.a. SCIENCE!

Dammit Jim, listen!

Science can do a lot of things, I agree.

But can science explain the supernatural?

Ask anyone from the movie Poltergeist!

Most of what is 'science' in movies (and the rest of our culture, more generally) isn't. Its TECHNOLOGY.

Flick a switch, turn on a computer, fidget a widget, and BOOM! Life goes on, Good triumphs over Evil, and HEY- by the way, buy a Mac. Its Alien compatible.

In our culture, STUFF solves problems. The only input is WHICH stuff to use.

Obviously, then, the solution is HAVE MORE STUFF. If I've got a lot of stuff, I'll have the RIGHT stuff to solve ANY problem.

I tell myself this, as I avoid unpacking from my move....*GODS, I have too much CRAP*.

Of course science can explain the Supernatural. Your not trying to say that Data, Spock, The Doctor, and Colonel Carter can't explain how everything works? I DISBELIEVE!

Come on, even Kirk and Picard know that Spock and Data can't explain everything.
