Attendance: Chuck, Dan, Greg, Mark, Scott Mc
The first game of the night was Settlers of Catan. Since we had 5 people Chuck pulled out the 5-6 Player Extension for Settlers of Catan. The board felt unusually tight even though we have played 5-6 player Catan games before. I guess we just had some goofy tile placements that made different sections of the board less attractive than normal.
The first part of the game was Greg and Dan charging ahead. Greg and Dan had a nice spread of resources and were able to continually build or provide needed resources to other players to move forward. Everyone else was dependent upon trades to succeed.
At the mid game Greg became the sheep master and started pulling ahead of Dan. Greg was able to build a settlement on a 2:1 sheep port and continually trade sheep to get the Longest Road. Dan was able to keep close to him, but everyone else was still trailing behind by at least few points.
At the end of the game Greg was able to get the Largest Army which put him at 9 points. It was going to be up to Dan to find a way to beat Greg on his last move, but alas Greg was able to get his final settlement build and win the game. Scott was able to pull into second place by having 2 Victory point development cards.
