I love gloom! Don't let my subject mislead you!
But holy hell this game reeks to high heaven. Does anyone else notice this?
Man, it just smells horrible!
I've owned it for almost a year now, and played it a bunch of times and the cards still smell.
And its not the "good" new card stink like when you open a pack of MTG cards.

I have both the base set and one of the expansions, and I've never noticed any odor from it.

Have you tried airing it out for a few days?

Maybe yours came with the extremely limited, rare piece of actual rotting corpse? zombie

Whoever smelt it, dealt it... the cards, that is.

I would have taken pickles over the smell that mine came with. It was quite horrid. Like a really musty weird stench. We've played a ton of times and they still stink. Not nearly as bad, but if you do a good card-sniff you will notice it.

Guess you guys must have received games from the same distributor.
Glad that the two games I have played with in Europe have no smell at all

I, too, have noticed the smell. I just bought it today, and opened it up to read the rules and make the deck deck-ish, and it caught me off guard the odor. I'm not sure what it was exactly, but if the game came out in 2004 and it is 2009 now, who know what could happen to it?

Hey now!

I also recently got a copy of Cranium Ziggity, with clear cards, and they reek in the same manner!

When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning

Something used in the manufacturing process.

My copy of Gloom doesn't really smell that bad so I never bothered trying to eliminate the odor entirely. Have you tried placing it in a container with some coffee beans, or baking soda?
