I can't help you with portlandgamers, but check out Doodle.com to facilitate getting game nights set up. It's an easy way to create polls to see, for instance, what the best days/times are for people to meet, you can ask any other kind of question you care to (like "What game should we feature next time?"), and it's free.

I'm rather amazed that there are 746 "gamers" in the Portland area?!

BGG shows solidly less than 200 in the database within 20 miles of downtown, and the Portland, OR BGG Guild only has 123 members.

Given how many game shops in town have game descriptions (sometimes ratings) from BGG, and reference it freely, I have to imagine that BGG casts a far wider net?
