Dateline: Essen

While many in Dominion are in festive spirits after the 2009 Spiel Des Jahres win, the Envoy is cautious, he tells VNN. "During the ceremony I saw the Operations Specialist and Medic from Pandemic huddled together and it looked like they passed a blue card, which could have been Essen." Pressed on what exactly he was suggesting, the Envoy went on to note: "Look, it is not a secret that there has been some tension between Dominion and Pandemic lately. Everyone wants a peaceful solution to our difficulties but when faced with the possibility of a cascading set of outbreaks we must take that seriously. Pandemic claims to be peaceful, if that is true then why is there a Bio-Terrorist in their expansion?"

Asked for a response Pandemic's Researcher scoffed: "Obviously Dominion has nothing to fear from us. We are a peaceful game and only want what is best for the entire gaming community. We were simply putting a research station in place as a precaution, how can this be considered a threat to anyone? Dominion should stop meddling in our affairs, but I suppose it is typical of such an overly hyped game. Perhaps we should name the blue cubes 'Dominion Disease'"

Other games reacted with concern. Fauna noted "When there is such tension between games like Dominion and Pandemic, we must all be aware not to ratchet up the bellicose rhetoric to a point where everyone is endangered."

FITS and Cities agreed: "We utterly condemn Pandemic's provocative moves. We also urge Dominion to seek a peaceful solution and not to use its Witch or Militia, which as we have seen in the past has led to utter disaster."

"We respect the gaming community and are honored by the Spiel des Jahres win, but make no mistake, we will not sit idly by as blue cubes spread across the map. At this point we are stocking up on Moats as a preventative measure to help ensure the continued safety of our players." The Envoy noted to VNN.

I can only say that some games who spoke on the condition of anonymity were "very concerned" about the very real possibility of open hostilities...

Obviously he's lying. The SdJ was awarded in Berlin and you can only pass cards when you are in the same city shown on the card.

The Envoy was asked about this at a press conference: He said: "Passing a card in a city not shown on the card only makes the move all the more provocative, obviously"

I thought this thread was titled: "Evony Fears Outbreak after SdJ Win", and then the room started to spin a little bit. I'm going to go lie down.

Actually, Fauna's response was, "Frankly, fatuous and fulsome fearmongering from such fanatically freedom-loving and fruity freeloaders fornicatedly...urk!", followed by a full-blown seizure.

Fauna is now resting comfortably in Berlin Medical Center. Doctors suspect the cause of the collapse was a lack of green cubes. Well-wishers are encouraged to send flowers (but only on Fridays!).

He obviously didn't read the thread, as it was so difficult to figure out where to find the list of SdJ winners.
