Such as Dantes Inferno

When helpful people such as yourself show the admins that it doesn't exist. Might need some kind of proof though, I hear they're very Sherlock Holmes about that kind of stuff.

Well, I would think this game entry from 2002(?) would be kind of self explanatory.

You should do more research before declaring a game 'non-existent'.
Here's a link to the game's website:
http://www.angelfire.com/games2/warpspawn/DI.html

I was going to mention the same thing. Didn't even have to Google that one as it is listed in the Web Links ... No research required. Even the WarpSpawn Yahoo Group is currently active.

Ok, it set a of rules on someone's website based on another game WarpQuest

Would this be an (apparently unplayed and unpublished) expansion of this game?

I'm not trying to pick nits but I guess my broader question what defines a BGG entry.

I could create and post on a website quite a few rules for games that will never be published.

I know there are some great home brewed gamed and print and play games out there.

This is just an example I came across that doesn't seem to be one of them.

Whether you think a game is 'great' or not is hardly relevant.

If there are rules, there is a game.

You have a point, however, that this particular case should probably not be a game entry but a variant, given the fact that it is described as a scenario for Warpquest.

I wondered myself more than a time, when I stumbled in some game that apparently no one owns, no one rated, no one played, or a still unpublished game that was later cancelled by the publisher. Once I made a geeklist of games whose existence I found questionable, but I have not submitted it, because I didn't really want to start arguments.

The fact is that for games (just like for things in general) is far more easier to proof the existence, than the non-existence.

I never said the game is or isn't "great".

This, like most of the WarpSpawn games, require players to make their own components (which many people in the very active Yahoo group do). Because of this the games require user effort that transcends that of most Print and Play games but they are still games and belong in the database.

For a better example, let's look at Unpublished Prototype.

Seems to be just another case of where the game should be considered as a minor variant of a base game. I hope the introduction of RPG Geek will be the starting point for a more structured hierarchy on BGG.

But apparently no-one in the also very active BGG?
And no-one found it worth their while to rate it?

Curious that not even the gamer who uploaded the information has bothered...

Old games never die; they just get debated endlessly in Geeklists!

Or Modern Society. It stays in the database and just keeps changing the publication year. :)
