Hello all, I'm guessing with the number of tech people we have here, I'll get more than enough suggestions. I'm looking to update our lab's website and Publisher just isn't cutting it. The most recent incarnation of the site I put up using publisher doesn't work in Chrome for some reason, and the alignment of certain things works in Firefox, but not in MS Explorer.

Now, I'm not looking for a content management system or wiki. All I want is a simple WYSIWYG web design app. I use MediaWiki for other things here, but I just don't like how limited they are in their presentation of data. I don't want a content management app, since they are usually overly convoluted and require learning an entirely new language.

So what good web design apps are out there?

I use a text editor, but for WYSIWYG I'd suggest this:

I don't do a lot of web dev, I'm a db programmer... but this for small personal projects and for web design for friends / family it has proved well.

Yes, I've done plenty of by-hand HTML coding, but I'm not in the mood to do that now. The time-cost to return is just too high.

DreamWeaver/FireWorks is a great combo. Not cheap.

Thanks, it looks like I can get Dreamweaver for a decent price since we're academic.

Yeah Dreamweaver is very neat, and the best one I worked in all these years (except hotdog a looooooooooooooong time ago). The template system is very helpful, as the testing capabilities.
