Drew, when will this be readily available? How much will it cost and where can we get it?

Also, and VERY important........is it good with just 2 players?

Thanks!!!

It's very rare for an 18xx game to be good with 2 players. If 18EZ is, it'll be one of the few exceptions.

Agreed. 1825 Unit 2 and 1825 Unit 3 do rather well with 2 players, I think Unit 2 a bit better. So far 1860 handles just 2 players the best of any 18xx I've played.

As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, the three travellers, men of Willowdale, emerge from the forest's shadow. Fording the river, they turn south, journeying into the dark and forbidding lands of The Necromancer...

The official company line is that we'll hopefully be taking orders in the next month or so. I wish I could be more specific, but there are some detais to work out with gameplay, and art that I want to get right before releasing the game.

The price has not been determined. Don't quote me on this, but I'm hoping to keep it around $40. (I did say don't quote me, right? Okay, yeah. I did.)

Clay and I have probably done more playtesting with 2 players than any other number, and it works just fine. In Level 1 play, I would recommend that 2 players each pick 2-3 railroads, and play as if they were playing a 4-6 player game, though. In Level 2 and 3 this isn't necessary.

If you want to be the first kid on your block to know when we unleash 18EZ you can sign up for our email list here. Wander around the site some, and you'll see some of the Art we're working on in the forum. And many thanks to:

Work in progress, mind you.

I read somewhere that we were supposed to harrass you about release info because that would keep the heat on you .

When when when when when?

I'm really looking forward to this game!

I played my first 18xx game yesterday, Steam over Holland, with 4 experienced players. It was a bit difficult to get into, but I got excellent guidance from one of the players, and it started to click more and more. I ended up third, with the NRS . The game took 4 hours, but they flew by! And now I want more of course!

I have 1830, 18Scan, and 18GA, and 1889 on order at DTG, but I would love to start with this game so I can learn everything gradually .

We just took a dinner break, but we're about to resume what we believe to be... wait for it...
THE LAST PLAYTESTING SESSION!

We still have some small graphics details to work on, and we have to figure out how to take orders. Once we figure out how to take orders, we will begin doing so. I think that should be in about a week or two.

We built our first pilot set of boards today, and we're really happy with those. We've decided to make our own quad-fold boards, rather than sticking you guys with a two-piece deal.

It's going to be a rather nice package for a home-built game. It'll be almost the quality level of the high-volume big-guys.

Clay and Mark are here... Gotta go wrap up the playtesting!

Cheers,
-Drew

Any thoughts on how it'll play with 2? I know several 18xx aren't /so/ bad.

My objectivity is highly questionable of course, but Clay and I have played more 2 player games than I can remember during the playtesting process. In the interest of full disclosure I generally avoid 2-player 18xx, so I can't compare it to other 18xx games in that respect, but I thought it made a better 2 player game than Agricola does. As I understand it that is considered a good 2 player game.

For calibration how do you like Agricola with 3 or 4?

May I offer a way to curb your impatience, and salivating? Perhaps with a link to the 18EZ order page?

That's right folks, it's available NOW! (Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.)

I placed an order earlier, but didn't get a priority mail option. I'll happily pay the extra 50 cents. I sent an email through the web site.

It varies, but to South Africa it's $24.67 US. Actually, unless we're figuring this wrong (which is absolutely possible ) most of the world is about $25 (Except Canada which is $13.85 US.)

I'm afraid not, and I wouldn't plan on seeing it in your FLGS any time soon. Distributors will only pay about half of the retail price for a game, and that would be well below what it costs is to make these. The only way we can sell 18EZ without losing money is to sell it directly from our website.

Hmmm. As usual, shipping (followed by local taxes and import duties) nearly doubles the cost of the game. Any chance of making a downloadable PDF version available?

Is there any chance to make copies available at Essen Spiel '09 ?
Any arrangement with Lonny Orgler, Helmut Ohley, Wolfram Janich, or someone else, that they could distribute the game in EU?
