In my quest to organize the playing area and reduce clutter, I've created the following Card Mats.

I wanted to make printing and using them as easy as possible, so they're simple MS Word docs, and sized to print on standard 8.5 x 11 paper.

For the two files, see:

For more ways to keep the playing area organized, see this storage solution for all the bits: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/421246

I always felt that the location/quorum cards are best situated where the current admiral/president is sitting.

Yes, that makes it easier for the admiral/president.

One nice thing about having the Destination and Quorum piles centralized near the board: it makes it clear how far the fleet has traveled, and exactly how many Quorum cards have been drawn (so that players can judge whether to believe a President who swears she has not yet drawn helpful Quorum card X--even though there are, say, only two Quorum cards left in the deck).
