An actual request emailed to me this morning...

Quote:
My (admittedly weird) request is: if you happen to have a bunch of random meeples easily accessible, could you throw (or place) them into a (dry) measuring cup to get an estimate of how many meeples there are to a cup/pint, or whatever measurement seems appropriate.

Sure! I'm always up for a challenge. But then it struck me...

I have to take my CAREFULLY BAGGED AND SEPARATED BY COLOR meeples and MIX THEM ALL TOGETHER in a cup?!!! OH THE HORROR!!!! That's committing a Third Class Misde'meeple, or something like that!

So...Oh my goodness, I had to unbag, mix, then separate and rebag 10 different colors!!! shake

And here's the results! One cup contains...

5 gray
11 yellow
12 black
8 pink
5 orange
7 red
6 blue
7 green
11 purple
5 brown

For a grand total of...

What? You can't add in your head?!!

Okay, okay, it's 77 meeples. Call it 75 'cause a couple bits peek over the top of the cup measure.

And now you all know the answer. File that away for when it's really important!!! Never let it be said that I don't add Important Gaming Information to this site!

But were your meeples truly random, or only pseudo-random?

But...but...but what kind of devilish concoction are you enabling? I mean, who wants to eat meeples?!

I'd change the recipe and use Through the Desert camels instead. At least those look edible. whistle

Well, if you are talking about a rounded cup, yes.

If you were doing a true dry measure, you'd have to lop off close to 10 with a knife to get a true cup!!!

I'd guess closer to 67!!

I didn't sift them either, so that would bring it up a bit. Call it 70.

So now we know how many fit in a cup. What's the volume displaced by seventy meeples?

Yes. A wedding ceremony favor similar to this...

The meeples have to fit within the confines of a specific jar, and the guy needed to know how many to order. He's a good friend, so I don't consider his request too weird. Just amusing. meeple

Nope, they're the standard MeeplePeople 10-meeple variety pack, regular size.
