Admin reminder:

Calling someone a troll, even if justified, never helps and often can exacerbate a situation. Users are expected to express themselves in a courteous and respectful way. BGG policy is to issue a warning on a first offense and to follow future offenses with temporary posting suspensions of increasing length.

Because I really want to call JC Clearclaw not a troll. Yes, he has his allegiances, but he's not a troll by any means. And I'm willing to risk my first offense warning to say so.

Agreed. JC has his preferences on what he likes to play and I find his insights fascinating to read. Most of the time I agree with them, sometimes I do not.

I think most smart people disagree with themselves - I like to think of it as informed doubt.

Three of the people who have posted above are not trolls!

(I'm kidding! I'm kidding!)

(. . . . I mean . . . . I'm serious, they're not trolls . . . . but none of the four are trolls . . . . Just illustrating a potential issue.)

That's what you get for manipulating ambiguity.

But what if someone is a troll, in the RPG sense?whistle I mean,we are a bunch of geeks aren't we? Perhaps their allegiance really is to sauron.

"Not a troll" is too cumbersome. Instead, you should say, "they may be a troll, but at least they are not an AP-stricken non-gaming jock!"

</useless joking>

We won't have to worry about trolls soon, since at this rate merely disagreeing with someone will soon be considered unfriendly and therefore punishable.

You will be suspended for being a troll as well. Those reminders come in private.

..Oh, I'm sorry, I thought I read "CAVE troll" in your post! Never mind, Daniel has it right!"

...btw, is it OK to refer to someone as a "troll" if the person being referred to is, like this fellow in the picture, an actual TROLL? Just wondering..."

Oh yes. When confronted with opposing paths, the trick is to walk down both at the same time.

They call me Troll;
Gnawer of the Moon,
Giant of the Gale-blasts,
Curse of the rain-hall,
Companion of the Sibyl,
Nightroaming hag,
Swallower of the loaf of heaven.
What is a Troll but that?

A description of a Troll from Scandinavian mythology. And that's just the female of the species.

Edited to avoid potential allegations of gender discrimination.

Better than being administered by the suspenders.
