hence I cannot "open" my mail to read them.

In the above image, clicking on just about anything does nothing;
- any of the mail messages, nothing happens. (other than on the hover, we get the mssage "shortcut to javascript://" )
- shortcut to the userids works, ie clicking on dknemeyer takes me to his page.
- clicking on the left's nav bar for Labels, such as "10player" or "Battle Masters" results in the "Loading..." message to appear, but nothing loads.
- - weird, I attempted to background color and foreground colour that message, and the pallets would not load.
- clicking on InBox, Outbox, Drafts, does nothing.
- clicking on Compose Geekmail works.

I am running IE6 on Windows XP. All service packs are installed. Up to yesterday, there were no problems.

Gerry,

You are going to get a number of responses telling you to turn off your firewall, etc. I have had the same problem that you describe and I can tell you that those "fixes" don't work. In the past, I found a way to somehow jumpstart the site.

Basically, visit this link:

It is the old link to the golden geek awards. I discovered that after visiting this site, everything worked again.

Let me know if this works for you.

The traditional reboot failed to clear the problem.

Reading my geekmail from another machine running IE7 seems to work okay.

No reason to think it isn't, as this was working two days ago. Any suggestions on where to check such a setting?

Clear your cache and reload the page. You might also Ctrl+F5 (hard reload) in IE. There may be some new javascript and/or page html that was updated but you're using a cached copy.

I had some recent problems as well in Firefox. The solution for me was to enable scripting from yahooapis.com. In the past, I only needed to white list boardgamegeek.com. Annoying, as that allows all sites to run scripts from yahooapis. But at least it worked. You should check to see if this might be your issue as well. Good luck.

I am having the same problem (no idea, why the issue started). Enabled javascript everywhere. No geekmail access in IE, Opera or Firefox. My only solution atm is: Entering BGG through a Linux live cd, which allows me to use geekmail, bookmark things on here etc. Even bookmarking isn´t working properly anymore. If anyone came up with a solution, I´d be happy =D

Do you use Norton Internet Security? I've heard that causes issues.

In that image you posted, there is a javascript error showing in the lower left hand corner of the browser. When you double click that little icon, it probably won't tell you anything useful, but it might. Can you post what it says?

Seems like on a clean-boot CD things are working. I think Aldie has the right idea. Check to see what security apps you might have running and disable them temporarily one-by-one. I doubt it's a firewall issue (though you never know), but Internet Security or something like it might be the problem.

HOw about opening that first e-mail (the one that refers to Roslin).

The post us a screen shot. And so that you can compare it, go ahead and write out everything that should be there. That should helps us.

Well at least someone robot

Disabled Avira Premium Security Suite and also disabled AddMuncher, but the javascript issue stays.
Under Firefox, I looked at the error console and it came up with different things:

Errors:
Error: syntax error
Source File: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmail
Line: 34
Source Code:
};

Error: GS_googleAddAdSenseService is not defined
Source File: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmail

Error: GA_googleFetchAds is not defined
Source File: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmail
Line: 61

Error: WZXwx is not defined
Source File: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmail
Line: 70

Warnings:
Warning: Expected ',' or '{' but found '#580'. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector.
Source File: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmail
Line: 40

Warning: Expected ':' but found 'gm_nessageline'. Declaration dropped.

[This last warning is showing up the most.]

Like geekmail, certain online shop catalogues do not open either (like links to details on a product).

Thanks for any help!
