A classic episode.

In some ways it led the way for movies like Cloverfield.

At the time it originally aired, a friend of mine was channel surfing, and managed to come in just as the episode began. And he thought "Hey! Cops!" and settled in to watch.

Of course, when the cop starts screaming at the camera man to Run Away Very Fast, my friend was like "Whoa! What the snot is goin' on?" . . . and when the cop-car gets rolled by whatever THING is chasing them . . . I think he nearly crapped himself.

Cue opening theme. D'oh!

If I'm not mistaken, the camera crew used for Cops was the same one used for this episode, to maintain that look. It's probably my favorite of all the episodes.

I remember seeing it. It was a "Cops" episode, right? IE, it was in the Cops timeslot, and you thought (at first) that you were watching Cops.

I remember liking it. It was strange in it's own way, but I think it was a fun crossover. I remember thinking how strange/cool it was when Mulder and Scully showed up, too.

The episode was called "X Cops", and it's one of my favorites. The best thing about it was that it started out exactly like an episode of Cops; I wonder how many people thought that X-Files was pre empted that night. One of the last good X Files episodes.

Oh, and My Name is Earl had 2 Cops parodies, both of which are hilarious.

I always hear good things about that show. Convince me.

Just like X-Files, you have to have watched the show to get it, but the "My Name is Earl" episode I remember they'd be following a story and you'd see Earl and his brother stealing something from a garage behind the cop as he was talking. And I think they went into Crabman's house and found his pot. He was running down the street carrying a big pot plant.
