so are they typical 'penny' sleeve quality or a little higher? I got a game in a trade a while back that had some amazing sleeves that were thicker than the regular penny sleeves, but were made the same way. I was never able to get a response from the trader to what brand they were and such. I would hope there are the higher quality given the price.

100 micron sleeves are thicker than standard penny sleeves. I *think* they're at least comparable to the MaxPro sleeves I use for US bridge-sized cards (like Up Front and Hannibal: Rome v. Carthage--these sleeves claim to be YuGiOh sized, but they're just a hair taller than their japanese counterparts, so they fit these older US games height-wise, though are a bit wide .). I'm trying to find a spec sheet that gives the thicknesses for those and the Japanese sleeves I get from Cardhaus that I'm also particularly fond of ["Player's"? I don't have a pack handy]

However, while looking around for that info, I found this at the Arcane Tinmen site [these are the guys that do the fantastic Dragon Shield sleeves]:

Looks like folks finally realized there was a market for these things for folks outside the CCG junkie demographic.

The Mini American ones fit the small cards, and Standard American ones fit the larger BSG cards.

Just a quick note for anyone buying the Standard American ones for Citadels. The guide provided says you need 3 packs to completely sleeve the game (3rd edition). While this is correct, it only stands true if you are going to sleeve all 8 of the reference cards. I cannot see the need to sleeve the reference cards, but that is my opinion. Without the 8 reference cards, the card count is:

66 District Cards
8 Character Cards
10 Character Cards (Dark City)
14 District Cards (Dark City)
______________________________
98 cards = 50 pack x 2

Just a note for anyone who almost ordered 3 and realized I would be paying $2.50 to sleeve reference cards.

You get more sleeves per dollar (euro/won/etc.) with the Mayday than Fantasy Flight.

Except that those $2.25 100-pack sleeves are 40-microns (thin). I just bought a 50-pack of Fantasy Flight Supply sleeves for $2.50 CAD (about that same price, when converted USD -> CAD), but they are 100 micron thickness. This is a large difference in thickness (250% thicker). The Mayday sleeves are pretty much just cheap penny sleeves. Even the website mentions that they are cheap (even if they are not referring directly about the quality, the price should resemble this): "priced for bulk purchasing (cheap)."

From the Mayday Games Site:
"Please note these will be the same thickness as most of our sleeves at 40 microns."

From Fantasy Flight Supply:
"All sleeves in the Fantasy Flight Supply board game sleeve line are made of clear, 100 micron-thick, non-PVC, acid-free polypropylene plastic. This means that the sleeves are durable, difficult to tear or crease..."

Yes theirs are thicker by a significant amount. There are several reviews around comparing the types of sleeves and thicknesses. We do sell a premium sleeve as well in the euro card size and it frankly doesn't sell as well. Most people don't want to buy 10 packs of $3 sleeves to protect a game like Dominion ($45 MSRP). Many people prefer to buy $11.25 worth of standard thickeness sleeves instead.

I've seen your premium sleeves on cards at one of my FLGS and they are very nice.

They remind me of the Ultra Pro Deck Protectors, minus the hologram on them (I don't recall seeing any). The holograms can sometimes get in the way and become annoying, especially when using the solid-backed Deck Protectors. They end up being on the front, obscuring the card.

For me, truthfully, the thing that has kept me away from games $40-60 (CAD) games like Dominion and Agricola is the cost to sleeve them with the thicker sleeves. I sleeved all of my Race For the Galaxy, Citadels, and Battle Line... because there were not as many cards. I plan on sleeving all 216 cards in Combat Commander: Pacific, only because a replacement set costs $16 and I would worry about them going out of print eventually (being a card-driven wargame). If I were to ever buy Dominion and any expansion (Intrigue), I would probably get your premium sleeves. I would shudder at the cost, but enjoy the game a lot more. I used to penny-sleeve my hockey cards and they used to wear out on me so fast, quicker than the 100-micron sleeves that I sometimes received on special cards (bought separately).
