Has anyone tried to build "connectors" to combine the two games?

I'm tempted to buy a copy of PitchCar (to add to my two copies of Carabande and 1 copy of the expansion) and do this: take one straight piece from each game, cut it in half (along its width) and glue (or biscuit-join) the two different halves together, making slight adjustments for height. Do that with all four halves and you have two connectors.

Then you can build half you track with the Carabande pieces, use a connector, build the other half of the track with the PitchCar pieces, and use the second connector to finish it off.
Or build FOUR connectors for even more flexibility.

The only thing is: are the pieces the same length between the two editions? If not, it'll require some more thought to make it all work.

(I know, I could simply use the jumps, but I want something more flexible...)
