I recently went on a trip to the Scottish Highlands and stayed in a lodge on the banks of Loch Lochy. I took some wargames with me to play but I realised when I got there that there was one wargame which would of suited the area very well. As I do not own Hammer of the Scots can you guess which of my wargames I should of taken and why?

A link to my collection

This is just for a bit of fun and because I have missed BGG while I was away

The first game that popped into my head as appropriate was Heave Ho!, but I see it isn't in your collection, so that's out of the question. It is a tug of "war game", though.

That isn't a bad guess but the game I should of taken pertains very strongly to the local area I was in and wouldn't directly effect people from out of the area

To give people a clue, OK maybe not much of a clue if you don't know where the hell I am talking about, but 11 miles outside of Fort William on the road to Inverness (A82) stands a monument which reminds everyone about a certain group of WW2 men.

Flying/leaping guess...

Raid on St. Nazaire

Perhaps they did some training up there prior to the raid? With a mock up of the harbour?

This is really just a guess.

I second Jon W's guess of Raid on St. Nazaire, as I am pretty sure that the monument whatambush is referring to is the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, Scotland (see link below). The commandos for the raid on St. Nazaire would have trained in this area of Scotland.

Yes your both right it was Raid on St. Nazaire. I knew the commandos trained in the highlands of Scotland but didn't know where abouts. The actual loch where I was located was used for beach landing training and the memorial that Jon mentioned was just 5 miles from me, that was close since the nearest shop was 6 miles away. The memorial was a gem for me to find and the views are truly stunning. The memorial lists some of the battles that were fought by the commandos including The Raid on St Nazaire.
