Target has these snack containers in a 6-pack for a dollar:

They fit three across in the Le Havre box, and fit perfectly on the board:

They came in blue and pink. Check out their "dollar bins" at the front of the store.

AHH!!

But the dollar store has the same boxes, containing 8!!

Great for AGRICOLA TOO!! Perfect size and they are pretty durable.

Lids aren't the greatest, but they stay on for the most part!

Great post.

I don't have a picture of them yet, but the .07-liter and .14-liter sized Really Useful Boxes are perfect for Le Havre, as well. They have little hinge-handles on the sides that flip over the top of the lid and lock into place when not in use, stack comfortable beneath the boxes when they're open, and fit perfectly onto the spaces on the board. They're 99 cents each at Office Depot.

Is it wrong that I think this is one of the greatest posts of all time? The fact that they fit on the spaces.... AWESOME. I am a dork...

Tap Plastics(not sure it this is a West coast store or across the USA) has a 2 inch diameter container with attached lid. The lid hinge could be cut to free the lid. Container is about 1 inch high. These are about 35 cents each. You need one container per type of commodity. A couple commodities have enough counters to just fit. To make them fit, just barely put on the lid and then shake the container to "settle" the counters deeper into the container.

Tap Plastics also has rectangular containers that will fit Le Havre cards -- you will need two . Card deck containers are about $1.00 each.

I just bought a couple of packs of those, i had a choice of green and orange and they work perfectly, shave at least 30 minutes off the game through savings in set-up/packing away time and ease of use in game.

Would like to have used them in agricola too but couldn't get them to fit in the box, i can just about fit everything in the box with the bags.

Were these in the $1 bins at Target (at my local store they are located near the front) or with the other container items? Thanks

I've been on this site for 15 years now, and I'm far from sick of games, but I think I prefer a better balance of favorites to new games. I'm also tired of playing 4+ hr multiplayer games, but I'll still happily play really long games 2 player.

Brilliant! I also bought a couple after work yesterday. And best of all, it all fits inside the box.

Now, if only Lookout Games will be kind enough to include these containers into their next printing of Le Havre..

I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.

I use Dritz storage containers found in the sewing section:

They fit perfectly in the spaces. I use the lids to keep the game board a little more clear but you could also use the actual containers.

Edit: Here are the Dritz containers in the box:

Weird - I was in Target Saturday, and I thought I was so fortunate for finding round containers which screw into each other in a stack. They do work for Le Havre, but are a little tight (chits need to be on edge). Yours seem roomier. I wonder if I saw them and totally passed them up. Dang.

Alternative boxes
After playing le-havre with a friend who used great containers from harbor freight I decided to get some myself. Here is an online link for the ones I got:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnu...

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnu...

They are $4 each for the sets (25 small, 12 big)
Both easily fit in the boxes with the smaller fitting on the spots like above.

I got lucky and found them for $3 each set locally.

Any idea where these can be obtained in Canada?
(Hell, I'd gladly pay for a set and shipping, and buy an extra set for the Geek who's mail it to me...)

I would mail you a set if I had an extra one, but I don't have one. I've been watching Target and similar places hoping to find more. If I ever seen them again, I'll buy an armload.
