Last night was a local game night. It was especially interesting for the things that came out of the mouth of one of the young gamers.

Firstly, we have our game night at a coffee house. This place is invariably filled with other people including some other folks who are there every week on their laptops. One such man always takes the table in the corner and ends up with a table of gamers next to him. Well this week he snapped. One of the gamers accidentally bumped his table as he walked past and this guy flew off the handle. The argument quickly escalated to the point where the gamer seemed unsure of how to react as the other man screamed at him. Everyone else quieted down and was listening intently. The gamer told the man that he should calm down as he was acting uncivilized. The man responded something to the effect of, "NO! Uncivilized is when people let assholes like you act like barbarians in public and get away with it!!" The mood of the room was very tense. Everybody was in awe. And then, she chimed in:

Quote:
Mommy, what's an asshole?

My friend and I were dying. I buried my head in my hands to try to squelch the laughter. This little girls comment had done the trick of diffusing the situation and everyone moved on.

The second quote came later in the night during a game of BANG! The little girl had three cards left in her hand and the guy sitting next to her played a panic card on her. She tried her best to hide one of the cards, but when prodded eventually added it back to her hand. The guy took his card. Then he played another panic and took another card from her hand. The little girl looked very relieved. Apparently he had spared the one card that she wanted to keep. Then the guy played a cat balou from his hand to make her discard the final card. As we pried it from her fingers she shouted out:

Quote:
NO! Not my beer!

The sight of an 8-year-old crying out over her lost beer made me laugh out loud.

I realized as I wrote out this whole post that maybe these were some of those you-had-to-be-there moments. Still, it was hilarious.

While I agree with this sentiment, what DOES happen to that last beer? Does it just sit on the table and get warm, going to waste?

It gets offered to the host/hostess. Who decides if they wanna be the one to drink the last beer, or if they will offer it to a buddy. But then again, at my parties, I make sure we always have enough to drink, so I haven't ever run into this issue.

Thread derailment continue.

Indeed. I always make sure I have enough on hand to leave every single person able to drink at least one beer every five minutes until they pass out, then have one every ten.

They were sitting at another table, so if she did respond I couldn't hear it. Either way, I was laughing too hard to hear anything for at least 20 seconds after that.

My elder son is 7. So he's full of questions. He's also autistic, so he's very literal.

"Dad, you're fat."
"That's not very nice. That hurt my feelings. Could you apologize?"

*thinking*

"Dad ...I'm sorry you're fat."

"Um... Nice try, but that still kind of hurts my feelings."

*thinking*

"Dad... I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings, and that you're fat."

"Yeah... ok."

so... did this 'bumper' tend to ALWAYS "bump into" the 'lap-dog-tops' table frequently enough to justify the outburst? He must have THEN "missed out" on the "money-shot" at the moment of the online 'pr0n' with this 'time' I'd presume... well, that's what I heard!
