Travis,

I don't understand the context, but I would say Red, Yellow, and Blue, with Black and White trim.

well I was trying to avoid limitng creativity in any way

So looking for any theme that works around three colors in my game (red yellow, black)

I ahve a theme that works well, but looking for alternatives that might be a little more light hearted.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone starting with colours, and deriving a theme, as opposed to the other way around. Interesting.

Don't know if these are themes, but it was kind of fun to come up with things that are red, yellow, and black:
- corral snakes
- tiger lilies
- monarch butterflies (sort of)
- flags of Germany, Belgium, and Uganda
- Indian food
- a black plastic ketchup and mustard dispenser
...

If you're making Chocolate black, I'd go with cherries and custard for the other two.

The colors really depend on the theme of the game and the overall art direction.

However, there are a lot of three color combinations that look good together. Here are some I like:

Brown, Teal, and White
Harvest Gold, Olive Green, and Orange (see also, the 70s)
Aquamarine, Orange, and Purple
Pink, Brown, and White

So to elobrate a great theme idea would then be "What's for Dessert", and choices would be chocolate, cherries or custard (or cake?)

Or "My birthday present", chocolate, flowers or diamonds

These are the colours of the Australian Aboriginal flag, so you could use a theme based on that.

Charcoal (Black)

Flame (Yellow)

Glowing Embers (Red)

A game about fire.

It might make it on "The Hotness" list at BGG.
