I thought it would be interesting to collect hotels and areas that some of the known BGG folks would be playing games outside of hours during the Essen days. I need to figure out my own address too.

Any takers?

I'll be staying in Ambassador hotel, and already know of another BGGer and a friend who will be staying there.
It is located in Central Essen (~400m north of main train station)

Great idea, I'll be in the IBIS, Hollestrasse 50 - 45127 ESSEN

with my son (17) both keen gamers, if any BGGs are around we'd be up for a game in the evenings.

I'm also at the Movenpick. I haven't figured out where I'll be gaming after hours yet: last time I only got out one night (schedule and jetlag) but it was at the Jung. I may have to hit the Ibis it sounds like.

I stayed there last year and they were pretty amenable to turning the dining room over to gamers in the evening.

We're four gamers driving to Essen from Norway and we'll be staying at Bredeney again this year. Last year we got a room next to the restaurant for gaming.

Myself and three others will be at the Ibis. They do have a good sized area that gets used for gaming each year, however there is limited space so without wanting to sound rude, use your own hotel!

No, in all seriousness it is worth taking into consideration that each hotel has finite gaming space so if everyone heads to the Ibis we may end up short, which makes for a crap time for those without, especially if they're resident in that hotel. Having said that, I've never seen the Ibis space maxed out yet so perhaps it's impossible!

I can see it now, a stream of itinerant BGG gamers wandering from Ibis to Arosa, hoping for that elusive open seat at a table that speaks their language...

Beat to the punch...typical

It should be worth noting that, when the room we were given next to the restaurant was overcrowded we managed to find ourselves another corner of the hotel to use as well.

I even managed to weigh our luggage, thanks to a helpfull receptionist, and I seem to remember there being a nice breakfast too!

Thanks for the reminder Melissa! Other than that though, it was a great location laugh Hope there'll be a good group there this year as well!

There's 6 of us staying at the Ibis ... for the third year running. We normally split down into 2 x 3 player games so there's always spare seats in games we're playing.

Space does get a bit cramped at the Ibis but we've never had a problem getting a table.

So - have you decided where you're staying (or playing) yet, Bruce?

At the time I posted this, I did know, however the apartment was sold out from under us. I believe we've got something else lined up, but it's an apartment again, not a named hotel.

Plans, sure. I need to figure out what places are within a reasonable distance of where we ended up. Also, our apartment (complex?) has several groups of Essen attendees I know, so some of the time, I'll be there.
