I'm looking to buy this game and D-Day at Omaha Beach. I could wait until the end of July, into August, for this to arrive in the UK and Europe, and late August for D-Day and buy them from my FLGS or online. But I wonder what price they'll retail for in the UK, particularly when most wargames sell for £40-£50 or more.

Alternatively I could buy them direct from Decision Games for $75 and $55 respectively but pay horrendous shipping and customs. One guy in the UK ended up paying over $150 (£90) just for RAF, after customs and shipping fees.

However, I think I've found a cheaper alternative from the US - note that I'll still have to wait until August if I want both games or the end of this month if I want RAF.

WargameDepot has both games listed; RAF is out of stock expected back around 28 July; D-Day is on pre-order for August:

RAF: $57.87 + shipping to UK $36.25 = $94.12 (£57.17)
D-Day: $42.87 + shipping to UK $39.50 = $82.37 (£50.03)

RAF plus D-Day: $57.87 + $42.87 + shipping to UK $45.50 = $146.24 (£88.83)

Note that shipping is by USPS, takes about 6-10 days and doesn't attract customs brokerage fees.

NB: I used Google for the exchange rates - just type into a Google search box the amount, the currencies concerned and hit Search. For example 146.24 USD in GBP

So £88 for two wargames sounds close to what I'd probably pay over in the UK. As ever I need something to distract my other half. Hmmm...ninja

I've seen RAF as in stock at boardgameguru (UK etailer), who usually do pretty good prices, at £51 (+postage). Not sure about D-Day in terms of UK avaiability or price but I can't see you beating the £88 total from Wargamedepot.

Bear in mind that although they ship using USPS this only makes it less likely that you will incur customs VAT and handling, rather than a guarantee that you won't. Potentially this could still add 15% + £8-£12 (handling).

RAF at £51 is more expensive than I was expecting - actually too expensive would be a better way of putting it - I know it has cards but it's only a paper map and there aren't that many counters - especially as I have the original edition.

Gordon,

That's what I initially thought, but when you consider that you're getting three games for the price of one (two extra compared to the original version) then it makes it "relatively" cheap.

Thanks for suggesting boardgameguru though.

It's been hard to keep RAF in stock so far! The distributors seem to have all underestimated the sales and we keep getting dribs and drabs.

If you do want a copy from us, feel free to order it now. We should have a few more in stock next week and it's first come, first served!

Cheers,
Jason

Just a note to say that it looks like RAF finally made it to UK distributors. I picked up a copy from our local store (tgs.co.uk) just the other day. RRP from the distributor (esdevium I think?) is £59.99 though!

I managed to get mine from a Forbidden Planet store in Manchester (very surprised to see it in there to be honest), same price £59.99.

Luckily I had £20 worth of gift vouchers for this store, so I think I got a great deal. Saying that - I think the price is right. Three games, for a specialist market, in one box, imported into the UK - not bad.
