Specifically about the extra numbers' tile (page 9), the example talks about taking time cubes which the tent tile indicates two cubes but the knight and key tiles show disks not cubes, so does it still cost time? What are the disks indicating?

More, the movement / sea move tiles indicate one disk and one cube. If the cube is for time, what is the disk indicating?

Even more, the Merlin / snake tiles show either two disks or two cubes. Assuming that the cubes are for time, what are the disks for?

Cubes do not stand for time in this instance.

Most tiles can be used for either their special power OR for recruiting knights (cubes) and/or magicians (discs). See top of page 10 at the following link at the game's website: http://www.mod-games.de/MODGames/Rahmen.html?Main=MUODT.html.
