... moving our pilot BGG steam game here, by request ...

This is a 4 player Steam game on the NY map --
- Blue - Jim (jimb)
- Black - Filipe (realgabriel)
- White - Jack (Raiderjakk)
- Red - Daniel (dcorban)

The game started here, in the Steam forum; we're in turn 2, phase 1 - the Select Actions phase - with this map -

Jack selected First Move; it's now Daniel's selection, to finish the Select Actions phase.

Daniel, please select an action?

Re: Steam 1 - naked photos of bunnies
I select First Build.

Then it is my turn to build!

I build from Scranton to Philadelphia.

-exit Scranton from southeast and curve down ($4)
-straight south ($3)
-curve over to Philadelphia ($2)

To pay for this I issue 1 share, moving my income level to -1, and spend my remaining $4.

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
Just a quick note that we should also think about putting specifying the Action number in our turns. I mistakenly picked up First Move when I meant to pick up Turn Order..... Duh.

Onward...

You're right, the cost is 7$.

I think it's Jim's turn. I'm just following his "system" of N-1st, E-2nd, S-3rd and W-4th.

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
It's my build - I'll go figure that out, and post in a bit.

Then Filipe, then Jack.

Jack - although you selected First-Move/#2 instead of First-Turn/#1 - since #2 was the lowest action # selected, you actually gained 1st in turn-order for next turn anyway. (And now, you also have the benefit of moving-goods first this turn.)

To finish up our earlier discussion of tile pool issues online - let's play with an 'unlimited' tile pool - no manifest limits enforced for hairpins, simple curves, complex crossing, etc.

Hopefully I can switch the photos to one 'full board' game image soon, with all the regular vp/loco/income/etc tracks all integrated with the main map image. Almost there...

pssst - one last thing, just between us three -

Do you guys agree that dcorban's position looks threatening? His track build seemed a bit provocative - and there's no way he needs half of the board all to himself, right? Should we look to slow him down, before it's too late?

sshhhh .. he's coming .. ninja

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
My build (I selected Urbanization this turn) -

- I'm going to place a Gray [Purple] New City on Providence (SW of Boston), along with the Yellow/Yellow/Blue supply/cubes [Red/Red/Gray]

I place 3 track tiles for $8 -
- from Hartford's SE edge, a simple curve to NE, over river terrain ($3)
- into another simple curve to SE, meeting Providence ($2)
- from Albany's S edge, a straight track to S, over river terrain ($3)

I had $3, so I issue 1 share to pay the $8 - I'm now -2 on the Income track, with $0 in hand.

Daniel, it's your build. (Then, Jack.)

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
Sorry - I meant you, Filipe. It's hard enough without my errors... gulp

It's Filipe's build.

Then, Jack's build will end the Build Track phase - after which we have 2 rounds of Move Goods.

Since Jack selected First Move, he will be the first during 'Move Goods' - followed by me, Filipe, and Daniel (Turn Order).

Jack - after Filipe's build - do your build, and also 1 Move Goods activity (move a good, upgrade your locomotive, or pass).

edit - add follow-up notes

Ok - I'll post the updated map within an hour or so, if possible.

Guys, I made a mistake above - if it's ok, I'll correct my move when I re-post the map. (I'm SORRY - I keep juggling board & pieces and fouled up the colors.)

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
No problem.

I think I'm going to whip up a Steam Moderator of some type to make this go a little easier. My weekend is spoken for, however, next week I think it might be fun to get something together that allows us to post moves, see the board and all that. As long as people are comfortable without seeing the board completely faithfully replicated (i.e., no art), then we might be able to proced without Jim having to hit the tool shed and shuffle things around and take pictures all the time.

Being able to make your own moves and have them in a central place beyond the forum is desirable.

I'm not a big fan of Vassal and I have web space to spare for putting a mini-app which might fit the bill.

In the meantime, carry on!

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
Ok, here's the new & improved board image - no more off-board display!

2nd turn build phase, Filipe to play

Players: please note the active turn-order-track in the lower-right corner of the board: it shows that Black and White are next up in Turn Order (Blue and Red already built track); also, Black and White have $3 each (Blue and Red have 0$).

I've amended my move with the right new-city & goods colors (a few posts earlier in this thread).

[for your visual reference - when I moved the separate display goods back on-board, I moved the top row over to the top 6 supply spaces, and the 2nd row into the next 6.]

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
Comedy of errors today - I accidentally edited my earlier post when I placed the new board photo. [Please see the current map photo, immediately above.]

What I said earlier was:

1) an online moderator would rock

I'm fine to keep doing this in the meanwhile - in case it takes a bit to get it shaken out - it's finally getting easier to photograph and maintain without so much hassle. (I've enjoyed learning more about taking pictures, too.)

But having any functional online moderator would be great, regardless of the artwork - beggars can't be choosers. (It would be nice if people could enter map geography and tile backgrounds eventually, but don't worry about it for now imho.)

2) major apologies for my move mistake - it's a breach, so if anyone is uncomfortable with it, please let me know and I'll play as original (see strikethru above).

Well, no one did anything after you so it doesn't affect the game.

I prefer the standard board you are now using instead of the split setup.

Thanks.

I definitely prefer the standard Steam board setup, too - I was just having too much trouble photographing it in detail, before.

[I'm going to remove the 'track display' photo in my opening PBEM post above, since we won't use it. Those image(s) remain in the original thread in Steam/General.]

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
I place 3 track tiles for 11$:
-from Philadelphia N edge, a simple curve to NW, over river terrain ($3)
-improve the tile placed by Daniel with a cross tile (#41) ($4)
-to Scranton, a simple curve from SE to N, over mountain ($4)

I had $3, so I issue 2 shares to pay $11. I'm at -4 in income track and with $2 in my pocket.

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
My Build....

Track completed for the Boston, Maine and Western Railroad between Boston and Maine.

- A gentle curve from Boston northeast, then a gentle curve back north into Maine for $2 + $2.

- A gentle curve extending out of Scranton. The tile is extends out of Scranton's NE side and winds its way southeasterly staying out of the mountains. $2 more...

My income goes down 1 and I pay $1 out of pocket to have $2 remaining on hand.

First Move

- Locomotive moved up from 2 to 3 for $0...

* * * *

My turn is done.

I upgrade my Locomotive from 2 to 3.

Filipe - your turn during Move Goods. (Ship, upgrade, or pass.)

Filipe, then Daniel, then back to Jack (for one more round).

Daniel, here's your board -

Daniel to play

Then one more time, in this order: Jack (1st move), Jim, Filipe, Daniel.

edit - a couple of mistakes in this image -
- ignore the red cube on Scranton - Filipe already delivered it to NY
- Blue and White are actually on locomotive level 3

(Apologies - we're getting there.)

Re: Steam 1 - naked bunny photos
FYI: I had a death in the family this week and services are this weekend. I will be checking in and out sporadically tonight and tomorrow. Things should ease up Monday evening a little. I'll do what I can....

Thanks much,

Jack
