I'm planning to explore a small part of Canada. As I'm going to travel alone for 3 weeks, it might be handy to have a game nearby in case the lack of gameing strikes.

So my question to you fellow geeks, what game should I prepare my printer for? laugh

and Ambagibus (labyrinths)

and look at Storm Trooper (if you don't mind a war theme)

What part of Canada are you exploring? And when?

To help all others Storm Trooper is not about Star Wars.
I should have had it all "war theme".

Well, you know, you could re-theme it to Star Wars. Stormtroopers on patrol on Tatooine smoking those jawas.

travel games
Two games I have taken with me on solo trips (and that have preformed well) are:

Bananagrams
&
Airborne in my Pocket

AimP is a new (and awesome) addition to my solo and travel gaming. I printed out the cards for the base set at the photo store and with some penny sleeves, it has been a whiz to go around with. I can even take just the very base of the base set in my back pocket and it's slimmer then my wallet! (which unfortunately is not a very good comparison in many ways ) This set was also very easy & cost effective to produce (& it was my first PnP). I wrote a review (kinda long) but the beginning might have some useful info for you at:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/424990 (slaps hand for shameless plug!).

Bananagrams is a different sort of game for traveling and solo play. It travels very well, and the solo rules can be fun if this is your type of game. That being the consideration here. If you like bananagrams AND you like word games in general, then the solo rules are quite the challenge - but you have to make them so. ie. Pick a hard subject to make your single subject puzzle out of. Set ever increasing (read "decreasing" here) time limits. Make a puzzle with only a certain # of letters in each word.

The benefit to Bananagrams - no assembly and pre-made carrying pouch.
The benefit to AimP - always a varied game & the full base set (Part 1 & the Rules (don't necessairly need to print out the Scenario book yet, but doesn't hurt)) is more then enough with lots of replay.

Hope this helps & safe travels!

Looking through my ratings, I'd like to add another solo game worth a play or three. You should really print out a different sheet for each game.

Luc,

please check back here around 13:00 US Central time. There was another thread wondering about the lack of good solo dice games, and last week I challenged myself to produce one.
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/3739128#3739128

13:00 today is the one week deadline so I'll be posting a solo dice game then. It is definitely a challenge getting a solo game together where there can still be some suspense or resource management.

Tx, Storm Trooper looks very interesting. I'll try to whip up some cards for that one

Ah, just a bit of Ontario and Quebec. Both seem to have a good train connection, which is handy . I'll be in Toronto the 23rd of august and heading back 11th of september.

Sounds and looks great! Thanks for pointing this one out.

I haven't played many word games, but I doubt I'll really like it.
So I'll skip Bananagrams for now.
