I have STX: Brigade and was wondering how much of an improvement there is in the ST: Admirality rule set. Specifically, is there a significant improvements in both combat and movement? I've read a bit but I'd like to hear from players who've actually played both editions. I should add that I would not get any of the expansions.

cheers

You don't need it. But I'd recommend it anyway.

Movement has changed to a psuedo vector system. You plot you move then determine the thrust cost. As an example, If you make a 60 degree turn the thrust cost is equal to the greater of your previous or current speeds.

Combat is basically unchanged though some of the terms are different and the weapon mods have changed. Also you can build custom fighters,

You can download the demo version to check it out,

If you do buy it get the Rules Annex also. It has the rules from the four supplements.
