Guys,

I think I may have made a mistake (or two). I have been stalking a bunch of games on the geek since June. I live in Hawaii and I am moving back to California August 5th. So far.. the only games that we have over here in Hawaii are Carcassonne + 2 expansions and Lost Cities. We have played those games to death. Since I don't want to be stuck with a bunch of huge game boxes, I decided if I was going to buy any games, I would send them straight to California. I began with a few purchases, and then a few more... but after my most recent haul, I feel like I may have gone overboard... without further adieu, here is the list:
Haul #1
Bohnanza
Small World
Fairy Tale
San Juan
Pandemic
Math Trade
Biblios
Ebay for 30 bucks total including shipping
Gloom
Gloom: Unhappy Homes
Gloom: Unwelcome Guests
Gloom: Unfortunate Expeditions
Haul # 2
Catan
Liar's Dice
Haul #3
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game
Tales of the Arabian Nights
Arkham Horror
Agricola

I feel like all this time on the geek without actually playing many games has made me feverish. But I bought 16 games in 2 months and I haven't even played a single one!

Am I obssessed? Give me a rating please!

That haul #3 is where you brought out the big guns! Just get them played when you get back to Cali (and try not to buy any others until that's been accomplished) and you'll feel right as rain

I just got the gaming bug back in November or December and I've purchased about 100 games since then. I decided to stop for awhile until I have a chance to play each one several times. I find that my wife and I play about a dozen of these games regularly and the rest don't get much playing time. So, I don't think you've gone TOO crazy yet.

Hahaha, same here.
The geek is dangerous, you can find loads of games that seem really exciting and I'm a sucker for ratings aswell.
I would have bought alot more if I had the money to spend, because I'm not running out of shelf space anytime soon, and If I was I'd just put up some more shelves :D

It may not have made the original poster feel better, but it certainly made ME feel better.

Can I get an amen?!

Though, my thoughts are that you start with a phase of exhuberance and not having any games to play. Eventually you get some games to play, and don't spend as much time on the geek as you're playing games.

Josh,

Does shipping add up for you since you buy one at a time? Or do you buy from stores? I have a tendency to always buy as much as it takes to get free shipping.

I certainly hope so. I am now having fears that my imagined gaming partners will not turn out so. I hate having a bunch of games waiting for me and not knowing if anyone will play them with me! But now that I am done buying them all... I am super-excited to play them. I think that's why I bought so many solo games with haul #3.

When I buy a single game, it is usually from Amazon. I have Amazon Prime and an Amazon credit card, so it usually works out as a good deal. In fact, Twilight Imperium was free due to accumulating some Amazon gift certificates.

The only game I bought from a FLGS was Fire and Axe. I only bought it because it was out of print and my finacée offered to pay for half the cost.

Good advice. I definitely don't need any more games right now. I feel like I have hit all my must-buys for now.
The ones I were most excited about were:
Small World
Tales of the Arabian Nights
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game
Agricola

Not sure why 3 /4 came in the last haul lol but I kept justifying other purchases... (it's a good price-- or it might not be in print for long -- or I just need a 20 dollar game to get to free shipping, etc.)

Hey, I'm going more for quality than quantity at the moment..
Trying to cover as much different genre's and types of games as possible
I love cardgames though since they're cheap and you can play anywhere, so I'll probably build up a huge collection sooner or later

In the "Games I can play by myself or with others than have a cool theme" you forgot to get Runebound.

'Compliments' having "Arkham Horror" quite nicely I find.

Surely it's a universal truth that threads like this are entirely pointless until you hit 500 games, right?

The worst part is when I find buy a game and play it I get the urge to buy a new one and play that instead..
It's no longer as exciting when you own the game, even thought it might be really awesome and fun to play
