This was a game based on the movie "Alien". If I recall, it came in a small plastic box, kind of like Ogre might have back in the late 70's early 80's. I am pretty sure it was hex based, and there were little blips that moved representing something being detected by motion trackers.

I am also pretty sure that you could get things like nets and shock prods to try and capture the Alien with.

Am I off base here, or did something like this exist at one point? Maybe an old Steve Jackson game or something?

Did it look like it was officially licensed or a knockoff? Was there artwork from the movie or the font from the poster/credits?

My first thought was Starship Troopers . It has hex and counter board with aliens (arachnids), and from 1976. But wrong book/movie and not a plastic box.

An ash I know, Yggdrasil its name. With water white is the great tree wet; thence come the dews that fall in the dales. Green by Urth's well does it ever grow.

It appears that Jason is correct. It isn't licensed, but the cover art and the images on chits are definitely derived from the Alien series.
