I watch Armed Forces Network news for a few hours almost every day. It's a regular rotation between CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC programming.

Perhaps I've just been in a combat zone for too long spending entire days without seeing a female, but it seems to me that the lady anchors, analysts, and field reporters are much more physically attractive lately.

All three networks have tons of hotties, but Fox wins the battle for quantity and possibly for quality. They'll have one on a panel and then cut away to another one for headlines, both of whom I'd rate 10/10.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?

No, as far as I can tell all of the news channels, especially FNC, choose on-air personalities entirely for their education and in-depth knowledge.

For a moment there, I thought you were referring to their reporting. Then I realized what you were referring to; in which case, I heartily agree.

Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna check out the TV news right now.

Edit: Damn, the batteries in the remote are dead and all corroded. Maybe I can figure out how to work the TV manually. Hey, and what channel is Fox 41 on?

Thanks a lot.

Actually I was setting David up for his most thumbed post ever. He and I are really close.

Ho-hum! In my opinion, a pretty/beautiful and supposedly intelligent blonde on Fox News spouting dumb, misguided, glaringly biased and/or erroneous info is a whole lot more off-putting in reinforcing stereotypes about blonde-haired women than mere dumb-blonde jokes.

The only thing that surprises me is that Greta Van Sustern only got a face-lift when she moved to Fox News and only went so far in tinting her hair with blondish highlights but never gave in to the ultimate degree of Fox Blondeness.

If the Naked News had been included in the Armed Forces rotation of news shows, you can bet those guys would forget about Fox chicks altogether.

I've gotten more thumbs than that. I do think it would be interesting to have the option to see my postings sorted by thumbs, I've often wished I could do that. It would also be interesting to see all of my thumbs sorted by user.

That's a pretty quick observation for someone living in a country where the women have been or had been wearing burkas until just recently.

This reminds me of Bill Murray's 30 year-old joke about Afghanistan. I believe he said that when the Soviets invaded, this was the perfect time to test the theory of women in combat. If they win, that's great. If they lose, we can always say that the Russians can only beat up a bunch of girls.

Megyn Kelly, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Shannon Bream, and Jamie Colby all have law degrees which probably makes them as smart as many US-based reporters.

Claudia Cowan's mother was a Batman villainess and was previously married to Captain Christopher Pike, if that's not geeky enough for you...

Regular rotation? During watchable hours here in Germany it is about 50% Fox news. I don't think that is a coincidence though.

Well, President Obama and the Democrats control everything, so I guess they must also like Fox News.

After all it was the Clinton Administration through Secretary of Defense Les Aspin who got Rush Limbaugh placed on the Armed Forces Radio.

I guess nothing can be as infuriating as the phrase "fair and balanced"...

I don't think there is any conspiracy, just that many folks in the military tend to lean right and Fox news is VERY pro-military. It just isn't my cup of tea.

I don't know whether it's split up evenly, but I was just watching CNN and then it switched to Fox at the hour. During this Fox hour they showed a commercial for Rachel Maddow, which I think is MSNBC.

EDIT: Now it's back to CNN 30 minutes later. I saw another MSNBC commercial for some show.

That's enough anecdotal data for today.

EDIT2: and in this post & the next, I'm mistakenly counting tips (of any amount) as a thumb, which is an error, so double-never-mind.

Depressing is what it is; I only have 34 for the same number of posts. (But I have four times as many DWTripp thumbs--SUCK IT!!)

See, the way I measure my self-worth is:
- smarter than DdJ
- richer than DdJ
- thumbed more by MisterCranky than DdJ
- can totally see over DdJ if he's in front of me at a concert, and not wearing a Carmen Miranda fruit hat

I guess nothing can be as infuriating as the phrase "fair and balanced"...

Especially when you consider that when he first announced in his own owned TV Guide magazine back in 1996 about his being in the process of creating the Fox News Network, media mogul & Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch said in no uncertain terms that he was creating "a conservative cable news network."

And Fox News isn't so "pro-military" as it is *pro-neocon* (neo-conservative), as both Rupert Murdoch and his boy wonder, William Kristol (editor of Murdoch's conservative "Weekly Standard" news magazine & commentator on Fox News Sunday) are charter founding members of the Project for the New American Century think tank whose "America As Empire" foreign-policy blueprint ("Rebuilding America's Defenses", 2000) for re-invading Iraq and taking on Iran and North Korea was readily adopted by the Bush/Cheney Administration as America's foreign-policy objectives. That's because Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and Scooter Libby were also charter founding members of that same think tank and were naturally already on the same page and had been collectively advancing those objectives since 1997.

Indeed most of the guiding lights of the Bush/Cheney Admininstration's foreign-policy division hailed from the Project for the New American Century think tank.

Cut and paste from myAFN.net:

CBS--1, .5 hours
PBS--3, 2 hours
CNN--5, 5 hours
FOX--8, 8 hours

It is a mix, but it is the timing that is important. For example here News Hour with Jim Lehrer comes on in the early morning hours. There is a block of NBC from 12-3 for which most people are at work. At my last post I would use a DVD-R to record shows at night, but at my current place they jam the signal with a mix of American video and German sound so I can't record it. I end up not watching the news, the Internet has better news anyway.
