Hi folks,

I am looking for some games that can be played with up to 6 players, without a huge amount of setup that can be played in 3 hours max.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Iain

Here's a previous thread on the subject:
Game suggestions for 6 players

Here are a few suggestions:
Play two 3-player games. This is my preferred way to tackle the 6-player problem.
Schrille Stille, Unnamed Object and Diamant all play quickly and will fit your time limit easily.
Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game may be around 3 hours, depending on the players.
Knizia's cooperative Lord of the Rings with the Lord of the Rings: Sauron expansion is the 6-player game I would most like to play that I haven't played yet.

An awful lot of games only support 2-4 or 2-5 players, but there are still good options for six. It's hard to be specific without knowing your tastes, but my group enjoys:
Bohnanza
Unnamed Object
Acquire
Citadels
TransAmerica
Friday the 13th

Elfenland - plays in about 90 minutes

Around the World in 80 Days - plays between 60 - 90 minutes

Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery (with the extra 6th set of playing pieces) - with 6, our plays have been between 2.5 to 3 hours; playing time will decrease once every one gets more familiar with the game

Citadels - plays between 60 - 90 minutes

Hoity Toity - plays in about an hour

Red November - plays in about an hour

As already stated, I would recommend Red November.
Also, if you are looking for a fast, fun game, without much thought, Saboteur.

Struggle of Empires fits the bill. Use the player aids posted on the Geek for tile displays, but make sure you tackle the rules and FAQ before play as there is nothing more miserable than a confused set of newbie players.

Dune plays well with 6. In fact, it probably plays best with 6 so that all the factions are in play. Three hours is a reasonable amount of time for a game. It's out of print, but it shows up on eBay all the time. Also, check the BGG entry--there are scans of the board and cards to make a homemade game.

You might want to look into Dune Express a recently published print-and-play game which also plays up to 6.

6 is a tough number. Our game night hostess has several that all of us seem to be happy with.
Our group's stand by games for 6:
Union Pacific
Alhambra
WildLife
Medici
Elfenland
Metro
Winner's Circle
The Bucket King
Acquire
Shark
Das Amulett

And then there's always the party games.

Atlantic Star.
It's got almost no setup, easy to teach and learn and I've yet to play a game without a ton of laughter involved.

Dominion with Dominion: Intrigue,
StarCraft: The Board Game (that one would fill the three hours tough),
Spank the Monkey and Lemmings in Space are great 6 player fillers,
and yes... it has been said before:
But Citadels is a very nice game.

My list includes a lot of card games... simply because they have very little set up time and are generally easy to play - yet not without interesting strategies.

Hattrick is an excellent closer for 6 players. A criminally underrated game IMHO ...

Mall Of Horror

It's great with 6.

Easy to learn.

Major backstabbing. Throwing your friends to the lions zombies! But they are doing the same to you. devil

(Warning - Very cutthroat, some players may not enjoy this, but it's great when you can find 6 who do)

I've played Steel Driver with 6 twice now and there is little down time and casual gamers caught on quickly.

I second the Bootleggers recommendation, and also suggest Silk Road with six. If you had more time, then the tournament scenario of Here I Stand would be great!
