#Previous game in chain Assault on Hoth: The Empire Strikes Back

Now that the other guys had finished their game, we wanted to do a 5 player. They had already done Steel Driver once that morning, but were so impressed that they wanted to give it another go. Railway games are always popular and we’ve played Chicago Express numerous times as well as Railroad Tycoon. However, this was my first time.

Interesting mechanics in that each round you are looking to increase your portfolio, with the right kind of bids you can end up with 2 shares in a turn. The money that was bid, is then used to build track and earn as much profit as possible. Things to bear in mind is that only one company can own a link, therefore depending on the turn sequence someone else can grab the one you’re looking for, so always leave the guaranteed builds till last.

Another aspect to consider is the colour of the towns and cities, which represent ‘goods’. In order to get the most points from your route you need a wide range of colours which encourages players to spread their track far and wide, rather than concentrate on a particular region. Diversity seems to be the name of the game, if you aim to win big by buying all the shares in one company the other players will gang up on you in order to make it unsuccessful. However, if you have many shares in many companies your likely to avoid this. An interesting game that I would play again, as it had a twist to its game play.

Next up was Dominion
