What do you think, how many turn-down points for a volunteer GM did I fit into the title of this topic?

And yet, the question still stands valid? ninja

I'd be willing to do it, but I have to say that I don't have much (read: Any) experience with PBeM TI:3.

If you can direct me to a tutorial... or if you don't mind me asking annoying questions during... I'd be happy to do it.

Lemme know!

I am also delving in the PBeM through the TI3 Wiki, so I am also learning by doing.

The best would be to check:
- the PBeM part there
- the Complete Newbies Guide to PBeM in there
- the GM part (How-to Host a Wiki PBeM, How-to Host a WikiMap)

It is basically copying and pasting the templates for the game into a new page, removing unused stuff (players etc.) and filling it up for the setup and gradually during the game. The Template3 is the newest one (and the most advanced, where you have an elegant design with tabs and all information in one place.

I will also look into it further and experiment with it to get a feel for it.

And if you have any questions (also during the game if it starts ), we will deal with them - and ultimately get a feel for it, if nothing else.

A good way is to check other running PBeMs, both forum threads for them and their respective Wiki entries.

Of course unless you want to avoid using the Wiki... but this would be the best choice I guess!

Thx guys!

Marc (up) has said he would GM (if I understood correctly, which I hope I did).

I am currently test-making a Wiki for the game and writing a short tutorial how to make it and prepare for the game from the GM point of view... If you bear with me a day or two, I will have it tested and written about it... I hope

If you've got a GM, can I play?

If you don't have a GM then I'd consider doing it on the proviso that I make minimal wiki edits. I really don't have the time for that.

If Marc would do it, then we are already 4 players...

I would keep it at that, mainly because this is a reasonable Player count from my POV and also you don't have to wait that long for 4 people to choose what to do next, as for 6 people for instance... Of course TI3 takes its time, but I would not like to prolong the game too much (especially as we are TI3-Wiki-noobs here I guess).

5 players is probably considered by most "veterans" to be the "worst" player count, because of the asymmetry of the board layout.

6 players is much better than 4 players, but 4 players is probably better than 5 players. If you don't like the 2-cards-per-person thing, though, some people just remove one of the strategy cards (which one depends on which set you are using).

I agree... I should have written 5+ players...

I personally vote for 6, then 4, then 5 players in that order. I think a game with hex tiles just fits with 6 players best, and then not all of the actions are taken every turn. And i dont think a 6 player game will be that much longer then a 4 player game. In either case, if you look at many of the completed games on the site, we are talking about at least a 100 day commitment...

Hmm, yes... 6 players are not taking two Strategy cards so... it might roughly be the same as a 4-player one.

You would be the 5th player until now, if we shall speak about a 6-player game from now on

MattDP above said he was interested. Wouldn't that make it 6?

Marc Quaglia volunteered to do the GM (as first)
I would be the first player.
Konstantine G. - player 2
John Davis - player 3
Matt Thrower - player 4
Andres Solano - player 5

That means if you did not vote to be a player also by posting

Another question:

I personaly would prefer vanilla TI3, perhaps only with the changed Imperial II card - for simplicity's sake (as it is my first TI
game and first PBeM TI3 game).

You?

I have sent a PM to Marc if he is still on track for the GM position

In the unfortunate case that he has no time for it, I could step in as a GM (but then only 4 players have expressed the desire to join until now... maybe 2 more could be found).

But I will wait what Marc says.

Ok Marc is still on track!

So I will semi-finish my short tutorial on how to set up a game on the TI3Wiki (using Template3 and Map2 - which really simplifies the process now!) and post it here for Marc (and all) to check.

I am thinking that during next week we can start the game - prepare it at Monday-Wednesday and start after that.

I am envisioning using the BGG forum for the updates (and PMs for private communication with GM/other players if needed). All of you who are not yet registered on the TI3wiki.org, just do it - and if possible, under similar nicknames, so we are not confused later.

Thx!

The Tutorial is up, feel free to comment missing things in regular setup that would need to be added to this online version (e.g. what I ommited that needs to be configured as per its physical counterpart).

Hi guys!

Marc is quite ready with the ti3 wiki page for the game!
It is called Minotauros and resides in its place there.

Now we need to get together and decide if:

a) we want a dedicated forum topic here for the game or perhaps handle the game via emails (I vote for option 1, more convenient, more transparent, always able to check the history)

b) we want to construct the Galaxy as per normal rules, or if we allow Marc to set it up for us in advance (I don't mind either one)

c) we want to select races randomly, or if we allow ourselves choices, if someone has a preferred race or something

I will send you all PMs to check this here (in case you are not following).

Until now we are:
