My son managed to break one of the altitude pegs off. I now have a base that can not be used. I've tried various methods to get it out with no luck. Does anyone have any tricks that might help?

thanks!

Try suction. Perhaps one of those small plastic suction cups. You may be able to work it out like a plunger.

If that fails, email FFG. I imagine Thadd will replace that part for you.

Or glue the broken peg to the base. IIRC, don't you always have at least one peg in the base anyway?

Please mercilessly flame me if I'm wrong.

That would work but might complicate storage a bit.

Another thought is a small drill.

I would use a dremel myself. Failing that, I would suggest heating up a pin pushing it into the broken peg and when cool and hard pulling it out. Just be careful not to hat it too much, you only need enough to get the pin to push into the plastic.

Peace

This exact thing happened to me. I used a very fine drill bit, drilled a hole in the centre of the broken segment, then hand twisted the next sized up bit in the hole a bit and was able to pull the broken peice out of the hole.

Something I tried once with a broken peg in a cribbage board was to heat a pin so it was quite hot, stick the heated pin into the section of broken peg at a slight angle, allow to cool, twist out.

Good luck.

The dremel was my first idea as well but I haven't managed to get to the store to find a small enough bit.

I'll try the hot pin idea, it sounds crazy enough to work or seriously hurt myself laugh

Yea, I thought about asking Thaad, but it seems a bit beyond the call. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll let you know if I either

a) get the peg out
or
b) lose a finger trying

I once was proud of having all my 17 airplanes in a shelf, but the above shelf with books fell down and the result was not one but several broken pegs,so I glue everyone of them.(I never used the altitude rules anyway).

seems to me the question is to tinker a little and by it personalise you squadron or use the customer service, wich will almost certainly send you gladly the replacement.
well, everything has its advantages.

on a kids toy i already, in other circumstances, did the heated needlework. successfully.

I don't know in this case. Usually our local publishers in Italy send replacements if the damage is due to production or shipping faults, not if the customer damage the product. Alas...

i thought about doing a list of customer support from game companies.

at zoch, for example, they state explicitly the replace ANY in due course missing parts. and at ravensburger they state at their website "dog eaten the gamepiece?". i cant imagine ffg would charge more than the postage. and even that...

abacus even sent me one miniexpansion for zooloretto free of charge.

i have to do dat list... blush

I managed to break one of my altitude pegs, when I was trying to lower the altitude of my Sopwith Snipe. It broke from the very bottom and the part of the peg which goes into the hole in the base got stuck there.

I managed to easily get it out by making a very small hole in to the underside of the base and pushing the broken piece it out with a small needle. Later on I bought some super glue and glued the broken pieces of the peg together. And succeeded.

Well, I finally got out to get a dremel bit small enough for the job. Huzzah! It worked I am back in business and flying once again!

Cheers to everyone who responded. It reinforced the direction I was going.

Thanks!
