Set up Agricola.

Get 7 Occupations.
Get 7 Minor Improvements.

Pick One.
Pass 13 to the left.

Pick One.
Pass 12 to the left.

Repeat.
Play Agricola.

This works fantasticly.

We mostly play this way by default.

Yes, this is good. Do you think it is superior to do it this way versus doing the occupations and improvements separately?

We always do it with 10 occupations and 10 minor improvements. This way you are not stuck with the last cards of the picks.

Yes.

It has some lovely extra effects.
The Braggart gets much better.
So does the Patron, the bookcase, eating veggies, . . all the stuff you want to happy can and does.

The minor improvements get known when you are picking your Occupations.
There is FAR less luck.
Travelling players is not just a crap shoot.
The right improvements end up with the right players.
Last night someone was actually eating lots of veggies for 1 !

I used Liquid Manure, TWICE!
Gotta love a Game where you can be excited about Liquid Manure for your Veggies!

What happened to Invading Poland with Tanks?

I've done this and it's fun. I also deal out 10 of each though, so that you're not stuck with crap at the end.

An alternative is to take 1Occ and 1Minor per pass. This speeds up the draft, but does reduce the insane combos a bit. Still, scores are largely much higher when drafting.

My problem is finding 4-5 real life players who are experience enough to draft. Drafting with inexperience players leads to the experienced players dominating.

There's no way I'd want to spend the extra time before the game dealing with this card draft (and even less chance that the rest of my group would put up with it - I'd never get this game to the table.) We just deal with the fact that some people are going to have better card draws than others.

Yeah, chocolate sounds horrible.

It's brown.
It's bitter.
It's addictive.
It's connected to slavery.
It's expensive.
It's bad for the environment.

I better not try chocolate. Or salt, or spices. We just accept that sometimes our food engine sucks.

Dark chocolate contains little sugar, does not rot your teeth, and does not cause weight gain. Hmmm, white crystaline powder that gives the user lots of energy . . .The drug you are typing about is SUGAR!

Lots of people do not believe, understand or accept that SUGAR is the most universal drug on the planet. At one stage it was the most expensive of all drugs. Sugar was the main cause of slavery, at one point anyway. Now it is chocolate. Seems vaguely connected to the farming theme anyway.

You forgot to mention how much sugar it contains, that it rots your teeth and you gain weight from it.
