Well after some great responses and 4 pages of names I am finally trimming them down and making a poll to vote on them.
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/439022/page/1

You may also view the spot I'm considering strongest, but its not final whether I would get it, at my blog:
http://enchurito.wordpress.com/

By the way the A&C Games and AC Games entries refer to my name Chris, and my girlfriend (future wife) Alicia
Here are the choices:
Poll
Which of these names would be best for my future store?
Games and Stuff
Games and More
Games Oasis
Games Mecha
A&C Games
AC Games
Atomic Games
Retro Games Supply

A pun.

Noted, I put Games Oasis in there cause it was the most common variation in the original idea thread. I saw the way you had it spelled in that thread as well as "Gamers Oasis". Go ahead and vote for it and I'll take it as a vote for how you preferred it spelled.

Didn't know about that, that's awesome. If I wasn't a white boy with blonde hair I would be REALLY tempted to spell it that way.

One vote for "AC Games." thumbsup

Aside from it including the initials of you and your girlfriend, there's also a subtle reference to electricity (AC/DC) in terms of your video game offerings. Moreover, it could also be interpreted as "air conditioning", in which case, considering your location, I imagine would also be a big draw.

laugh

Good luck!

I was also thinking along the lines of AC as in alternating current which is what all arcade and console videogames run on.

I voted AC Games, too.

Plus, it might get you listed first in the Yellow Pages (assuming people still use those old-fashioned things).

With the MEChA name, store security ought to be pretty good, what with the FBI watching it 24/7 and all.

Games Oasis is probably the best, but I voted Atomic Games.

Because anything atomic must be cool.

Being the one who originally suggested Games Oasis, I must admit that I would prefer Game Oasis or Gamers Oasis myself, now. But those are details - I am not a native English speaker and might not be able to judge the finer points of it as well as others here.

Umm... you are posting in the middle of the day on a site called boardgamegeek in a forum about naming a game store and you've got, who is that, Aleister Crowley as your avatar?

I think you should grab a piece of mail laying around the house and check the ZIP code... you're living in Nerdville already.

Games Mecha is good, but it definitely implies SF gaming. Its the best name of the lot, but keep this in mind.

Good luck with your store!

Looking at the pictures on the blog, that looks like a great space. You can keep the gaming separate from the merchandise. I find it distasteful when the game playing areas are right in the middle of the sales floor.

Also, if you haven't yet, then I might want to listen to the GAMA Trade Show seminar podcasts about retailing. The two most recently released focus on the image you create for your store, whether it is deliberate or not.

http://www.pulpgamer.com/gama/134669/gts09-14-selling-your-s...
http://www.pulpgamer.com/gama/134670/gts09-15-selling-your-s...

The name is certainly an important part of the store's image. If you hope to tap into the large casual market then any name which is difficult to understand, based on an inside joke, or too 'geek'ish would be a hindrance.
