Allow me to introduce myself. I am Hexachlorophene J. Goodfortune, Kidnapper-At-Large, and Devourer of Tortoises par Excellence, at your service.
If you can read this, then this sentence is false.
I saw on Amazon that the 1998 edition of Risk is being sold for $200! Can anybody confirm whether it's actually worth anywhere near that? It seems especially bizarre considering that there was collector's edition released in 1999.
It must be a some sort of collector's set. They had a different set for $140, and some other toys (like a nerf gun) were really expensive as well. But they didn't show many pictures or have much of a description...not sure at all what is so special about it.
This particular edition has a map board that has lat/long lines that would allow ocean movement by units via grid squares. That makes it particularly useful if you are using a variant that has naval rules.
Also, the artwork is exquisite.
I feel particularly fortunate to have this copy, which I purchased many years ago at a reasonable price. I don't think I will part with it for love or money.
Oh wait...that's the 1992/1993 edition. Oh well, I own both editions so a happy man am I.
