Sorry, we can only have one orgy of death and patriotism a year.

Memorial Day is now being renamed Barbecue Day or Three-Day Boardgaming Fiesta. Veterans Day is now renamed "Thank God, A Day Off in the Middle of the Week" Day or Military Shout-Out Day.

This is RSP! You're supposed to be ripping in to him for his socialist form that degrades the freedom of the forums by limiting choices for topics to such a paltry list!

A great line, but misapplied. Chiddler's OP is clear.

Now that I see it right next to the Sept 11th thread, I agree. When I read it, it was all alone in the middle of chit-chat, and next to bacon and yahoo boots, I had no idea what he was doing.

While I won't disagree with this point, 9/11 is a very poor example. You're equating correlation with causation, and you shouldn't. It was arguably the boldest terrorist attack in American history, and it inarguably had more of an effect on our nation's social and political structure than any single event in decades. It would have been mythologized and exaggerated even if it had not happened on TV.

Wait ... What ?

I thought this thread was a very subtle way to talk about the one year anniversary of Lehman Brothers' disapearance ... but no.

This thread has just go down from 'awesome' to 'useless' ...

If you want to do something with a non-significant day, be sure your day is really non-significant ...

its sociology i guess

Reminds me of a song by Roger Waters called "Watching TV" where he sings about Tianamen Square. The last line is, "Because she died on TV"
