I hope everyone is getting excited for Congress of Gamers, Sept. 26-27 at Bauer Drive Community Center, 14625 Bauer Drive, Rockville, MD. Registration starts at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. Gaming runs through midnight on Saturday and through 6 pm on Sunday.

The countdown is on. There is no pre-registration this year. Just show up at the door and pay $5 per day.

If you would like a Congress of Gamers 2009 t-shirt, get your order in this week. This year the shirts will be red. It is an attractive design that is sure to make you popular at any gaming event! Place your order using the Pay Pal buttons on http://www.congressofgamers.org/shirts.asp.

Our vendors--Harmony House Hobbies and Simply Fun--are set and ready to attend. We encourage you to patronize their booths and thank them for their support of this convention.

Make sure to set aside some games for the Bring and Buy. We will have shelves to display everything on and a new system to make sure that the sales run smoothly and record keeping is simpler.

Our Math Trade is getting started--make sure to add your games to the list at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/45810! There are already 35 items and we are hoping for many more.

Ed Beach will be running Battle Above the Clouds beginning at 9 am on Saturday. It is the 8th game in the award-winning Great Campaigns of the American Civil War (GCACW) series. He'll also hold a Virgin Queen playtest session starting at 1 pm on Saturday. Seats in the game are already filled, but you may enjoy dropping by to see where Ed's new design is going. You may even be able to give him some feedback.

Our plaque for the America First tournament has arrived. You'll want to take this one home, with its full-color flag and golden eagle. We've added Pro-Golf to the schedule on Saturday from 9am to 11am. You can start playing (on the Lancaster Host Resort course)--in groups of four--any time between 9 and 10:15 am. We'll use 2007 player cards. You can choose between 9- or 18-holes. If you don't know how to play or don't have a foursome, our GM Mark Love will help you out.

I hauled my Wings of War miniatures back from Germany with me for our Sunday event that runs from 12 to 2 pm. Come, fly, and try to complete your mission and shoot down the enemy before he takes you out. You can have a lot of fun (and learn the game), even if you only drop in for a few minutes.

Are you prepared to don your thinking cap for our Iron Designer Challenge? The design kits are being assembled as I write. Even if you aren't interested in putting together an original game on the fly, please join us on Sunday at 2 pm for demonstrations of the games. Afterwards, you'll have a chance to try them out.

Our EuroCaucus and Racing Series are returning, and winners of the events will receive nice plaques...plus have the opportunity to learn and participate in some very fun games. You can find more details on our website at http://www.congressofgamers.org/index.php?page=schedule.

For a look at our full schedule, visit our website at http://www.congressofgamers.org/index.php?page=schedule. We'll have DBA historical miniatures events running all day on Saturday.

Like last year, we'll be offering snacks and drinks on both Saturday and Sunday. There are plenty of nearby restaurants for additional sustenance.

If you have any questions leading up to the convention, please contact me at kaarin@congressofgamers.org. See you soon!
