Does anyone know why Games Workshop and Milton Bradley did not release Space Crusade in the U.S.?

There are two covers of Space Crusade. Was one for the United Kingdom and one for Australia? Does anyone know if there is any differences between the two sets except for the front covers?

I don't know why this game was never released in the U.S.
But when I remember correctly there were 3 editions of Space Crusade.

This was the first edition.

The 2nd

And the third

I also don't know any differences between the editions, but when I remember correctly the Chaos Space Marines (or Commander?) had more Weapon variations in the first (Edit: 2nd) edition.

Edit:I've just read through the german StarQuest forums.
The first edition was only a never released prototyp.

Here I have some more informations:

It seems that the first edition was a prototyp for the designers to test the game.
It had 2 blue, 2 white and 2 red dice. The blue have changed to 2 white dice.
2 never released metal models were also included in this edition.
A dreadnought (the MKVII) and a android miniature.

In the 2nd edition the Chaos Marines had the same weapons as the marines.
The miniatures were different in detail (more pointed).
The doors were divided in different classes:
Armored.
Armored airlocks.
Normal.
Light (Lab doors).
It was also possible to shoot doors (just like in Space Hulk).

The miniatures from 2nd edition are very coveted among fans.

There were also some mixed editions with the box from 2nd and the content from 3rd.
