- Escape in the Truck
- Sally the High School Sweetheart
- Billy the Sheriff's Son
- Jenny the Farmer's Daughter
- Father Joseph the Man of The Church
2 - Barn, Farmhouse and Corn Fields
3 - Gun Shop, General Store and The Plant
4 - Gas Station, Junkyard and The Bank
5 - High School and the Gym
Sally and Billy at the exit from the High School
Jenny at the exit of the Farmhouse
Father Joseph at the Truck
8 zombies evenly distributed
Throughout the entire game the zombies burned cards as fast as possible and discarded anything not of use right this second in order to pull from the zombie deck as fast as possible.
Things looked pretty bleak for the players for the first 5 turns or so, as the zombie side had some amazing luck on the draw cards.
15z - Zombies draw to 4, one of which is draw 3 extra cards. Sally and Billy realize This Could Be [their] Last Night on Earth, the 2 zombies that started near the High School shamble their way to cut off both exits. Zombies cut the power to the Gas Station and Take Over the Junkyard, putting the zombies at 13.
15p - Jenny searches and finds something not immediately useful, Father Joseph moves 1 sq toward Jenny.
14z - Sally and Billy have an after sex argument and spend their turn bickering incessantly. Zombie spawns adjacent to any player and blocks the high school exit, one zombie ends adjacent to the quarreling lovers, and one ends at the Gym entrance to the High School. Zombie spawns on top of Jenny in the Farmhouse, and two zombies move to be adjacent.
Jenny kills her zombie.
14p - Sally rolls a 6 movement and goes to leave the Farmhouse only to find the door is locked. Father Joseph moves to the Barn.
13z - Two zombies converge on Sally and Billy and two on Jenny. Players have no weapons at this point. The Junkyard is taken over, putting the zombies at 14 on the board
Jenny takes a wound but even with two extra dice manages to fend off the second zombie and avoid becoming a zombie hero. Sally kills her zombie and Billy takes a wound.
13p - Father Joseph finds Just What [he] Needed... and selects the Keys, figuring that since there's only 1 of those in the deck it makes the most sense to get it now. Jenny makes it to The Cornfields right in front of the Barn. Sally and Billy get two squares out of the High School and at this point there's an awful lot of zombies not too far away.
12z - Sally and Billy have another This Could Be Our Last Night on Earth card played on them, giving the nearby zombies time to fence them in and cut off all routes of travel. Jenny has a zombie shamble over to her, but [un]fortunately the zombie is unable to find her in the Cornfields. Father Joseph gets an event card played on him that makes him Strange and unable to exchange items with another player.
12p - Father Joseph finds Dynamite, Jenny rests back to full health. Sally rushes a lone zombie in the fence makeup surrounding her and Billy, and kills it with the handy use of an event card. Billy rolls a 7 move and makes it to 1 step outside the General Store.
Jenny bare-hand kills another zombie [she rolled well the entire game].
At this point the only character in any real danger is Sally, who has a hoard of zombies surrounding her, and the players breathe a little easier. The players finally have some time to settle in to do some real searching, or do they?
11z - d6 zombies get a free move and 2 of them cut off Billy's exits from the General Store. Three zombies converge on Sally, and the zombies Take Over [zombies choice] the Barn, spawning 3 zombies and preventing the players from searching. Zombies back at 13.
11p - Sally most of the way towards the General Store with Billy, Jenny also rolls well and gets to the south door of the General Store. Father Joseph lags behind a bit, too much preaching and not enough cardio.
10z - Two zombies converge on Billy and the rest almost succeed at cutting the other players off from reaching Billy but leave 1 gap in the fence.
Billy suffers a wound and is Bitten, but not only fends off the other one but manages to kill it. Another chance at a zombie hero lost.
Over the next several turns the players manage to draw a couple mediocre weapons from the General Store and then all 4 make it to the corner entrance just inside the Gun Shop. The zombies flip over and discard 10 hero cards, which [un]fortunately includes 2 Gas cards.
There was a revolver in the discard pile now though and the players manage to non-stop search and shoot. Obtaining 2 shot guns, a flare gun, several rounds of ammo, a meat cleaver, baseball bat, more dynamite, a fire extinguisher and a lighter, among other things.
The players have been successfully fending off the zombie advances, though zombies have been spawning with good regularity (and use of zombie event cards). At this point there are also 2 additional spawn containers in the near vicinity of the Gun Shop and many players have negative remains in effect cards placed on them now. Father Joseph hasn't been able to effectively combat zombie cards due to no form of healing for him.
As the remaining turns dwindle away, the zombies adopt a defensive stance outside of shotgun range, as any that get close to the Gun Shop immediately get blown away. Periodic revolver shots pick off zombies, but a good-sized crowd is on or surrounding the Truck and the zombies have just Taken Over the Bank. The sunlight is growing weak and it looks like all hope is lost for the Heroes when...
2p - Sally shoots another zombie that gets within range of her revolver. Jenny finds a Gasoline cannister! Finally! She plays an event card to remove the status effect from Father Joseph and gives the Gasoline to him, firing her flare gun at the one zombie standing on the Truck as well [and kills it]. Father Joseph rolls a 6 on movement and runs to the Truck with Gasoline and Keys in hand. Billy also rolls enough movement to reach the Truck, uses his Fire Extinguisher to force 5 zombies onto the same location and throws Dynamite at them, killing 4.
1z - Two zombies cut off the exit paths from the Gun Shop, the 1 remaining zombie next to the Truck moves into the square, and the hoard of zombies in the Bank advance towards the Truck, but at this point these zombies no longer matter.
1p - Father Joseph exhausts his turn filling up the Truck and takes a wound from the zombie that's in the square. Billy shoots one of the zombies cutting off the escape path of the girls and fends off the zombie at the Truck. Jenny sprints her way to the Truck and shotgun blasts the remaining zombie there to oblivion.
As the last glimpses of light begin to fade, Sally doesn't quite manage to reach the Truck in time. Billy sighs unhappily and delivers a wistful, longing look at his first true love, who screams "Billy, don't leave me!"; he then snuggles up next to his new girlfriend and drives off into the sunset.

"This could have been a movie ..."
... is exactly what I thought about a couple of our Last Night on Earth" games.
I think the game is very thematic and if you get into you can actually "envision" the actions playing out like a movie.
Amusingly, I played another round of LNOE tonight with 2 people who hadn't played before. I played the zombies and we happened to get this same scenario again.
Came down to the very last turn again. Player turn, last action of game, girl filling up the Truck with gasoline died.
15 turns seems pretty dead on for this scenario
Probably it will be made into a film along with Space Hulk
We've come full circle since LNoE is based on a variety of zombie movies and Space Hulk is based on Aliens. Movie->Game->Movie. ;)
Thanks for sharing your session, it sounds like a great game, my copy comes Wednesday!
