It's first time I play A&A and I have some questions connected with it.

1. Is it possible to change the side of conflict (for ex. German decides to have an alliance with US)?

2. Terms of victory - the game ends when one player controls 9(or 12) cities, or when one side of conflict does?

Not with the official rules, but you can do anything you like with house rules.

One of the greatest games I ever played of original AA was 5 on 5, no allies. The problem was there was less impetus for a KGF strat and the US was basically unassailable. Another fun game we had was shifting alliances. The US/UK and Jap against RUS and GERM. We were unable to stop the Germ/RUS alliance because of all the troops they built.
