Hello Everybody,

This December I will be going to Peru for two weeks. :D I am really excited as I will see old friends from the time I used to live there.
All my friends are gamers and I would really like to bring them excellent big box games, but these are a bit too expensive for me to buy 7 of them. In addition, as many of you might know, luggage space is very limited nowadays.

So this is the solution I found:

Either 7 small box board games, well they have more than just cards (cheaper than CAD$19.00 or US$17.00 )

-Gold digger
-Quicksand
-Oceania
-Nottingham
-Middle kingdom
-Take stoke

Are these any good?

or

7 small box card games (cheaper than (CAD$15.00 or US$13.00)

-Tichu
-Coloretto
-Saboteur
-Frenzy

Are they good?

Please note that the games have to be really small. Odin's raven, Jambo, Great Wall of China or even Bohnanza are a bit out of my budget and too big. Also, I would appreciate it if the games are easy to find.

I thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

Have a great day!

Romian

OK, one time Randy Beaman had to take baths with his brother. So one time his little brother took a potty in the bathtub .....and now Randy Beaman gets to take showers alone. 'K, bye.

One time, OK, see, one time Randy Beaman's little brother ate Pop Rocks and drank a soda at the same time and his head exploded! 'K, bye.

Re: Best small box card games or board games? Help me please.
My no-brainer recommendation is Citadels.

I'll second Jeff's suggestion of Citadels and add Gang of Four, a climbing card game, and Corsari, a gin rummy variant, and No Thanks, a neat little card game.

Coloretto is one of my favorites; I'd definitely recommend that.

Wizard, another favorite trick-taking game. And Fairy Tale, a card-drafting game that's pretty well thought of.

Hope you have a wonderful trip.

No Thanks! is good, as is Archaeology: The Card Game. Unnamed Object plays up to 8. Catan Card Game only plays 2, but is a great game, and is $16 USD online. Possibly SET or Xactika?

Just to warn You. Seven ho-hum games are less valuable than 3 good ones or even 1 or 2 excellent ones.

If You get used games maybe that will work. I got Um Reifenbreite, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, Hoity toity, Carcassonne, Heimlich und Co. each for 1-2 Euros used. Some were like new even.

Bohnanza -- It's in a small box but the game only consists of 100 cards. Rubber band those cards and you're good to go. Plays great with any number from 2-7 (though rules change slightly so read up first or take a cheat sheet).

Also check this geeklist of fillers...

Blink $4.50 The world's fastest card game. I have it. I like it.
Jungle Speed A small wooden totem plus a custom deck of cards. It has some similarities to Blink, but is an enormously fun game, and can have any number of players. $16, but well worth it in fun.

Sushi Roll is fun for a group. Very fast to learn and play. Available at Pentago.com. Munchkin series is good too. That's put out by Steve Jackson Games.

Yes or Carcassonne plain and leave the box at home, just get a bag for the tiles which is advisable anyway. Even better Carcassonne with expansion 1. And a homemade bag. Big enough to hold the tiles, separate the start tile and the 50/100 point tiles in a plastic bag. And the scoring board can be printed off the geek and is then foldable...

How about a dice game? There is a small tin version of Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck.

For the others I secont Settlers of Catan Card game and Coloretto. If You get all these they should not be too expensive and they are GOOD games and not just hm average or below average. One can get cheap games. But one should buy cheap quality :)

Almost anything by Adlung would fit the bill:
Meuterer
Vom Kap bis Kairo
Die Fugger
The Castle of the Devil
are all excellent "big" games in small packages.

Verräter
Palastgeflüster
Look good, too.

How much is Felix: The Cat in the Sack? It's small and a good game.

Tichu and Middle Kingdom are good (though Middle Kingdom is ugly).

Fairy Tale is also good.

Never played Coloretto but I enjoy the games based on the mechanic.
Is No Thanks still in print? If so put that on the list. Even though I'm not a big fan, it's better than some of those small box boardgames.

I would say buy different games. Or 2 or 3 of the same.. would make a nice selection.

Some small games can handle several people, already mentioned(that i know) were;

Citadels

The Castle of the Devil

and i would add

Loot

for a simple game it has some pretty good fun inside.

I like The Battle for Hill 218 for portable fun. It is only for two players, if that makes a difference.

Some more mainstream games: SET, Mystery Rummy: Jack the Ripper (and the other Mystery Rummy games: a little hard to find at this point though).
