One of the great things about Space Hulk is there are no Space Hulk tournaments, there is no International Space Hulk rating system or anything of the sort, just you and your buddy acrossed a table playing the game. So pick a set a rules you both agree are fair and play the game.
At least half the time you will be playing the other side and any bonuses one side would get from the set of rules you chose you will get when it's your turn to play it.
This is one of the best things about boardgames, especially 2 player games, when you are behind closed doors sitting acrossed the table in a meeting of minds, all that really matters is that you agree on what rules your going to play with. The next part is the most important and the only reason your partaking in the exercise, and that is HAVE FUN !

Space Hulk is one of the most strategic and exciting boardgames ever made. Are the rules perfect, no, 20 years and they still spir arguments about their interpretation, but whats great is it doesn't matter.

So have fun, paint your figures when you don't have someone to play with and throw down the gauntlets when you do.

All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Actually:

One of the great things about Space Hulk is there *are* Space Hulk tournaments.

At least here in Germany. They haven't been huge events with 8-12 players, but they were fun nonetheless. Who knows how big the next events will be now that the game has more players than ever before.

Besides, I really can not understand why the existence of tournaments or a ranking list are keeping you and your gaming buddies to do what your topic says with any game you fancy.
