What is the score with geekgold?
Do I purchase it with real money?
What is the exchange rate?

I know this all sounds noobish - but I actually dont know!

Hi Martin. Geek Gold (GG) is the virtual currency of BGG. Basically, you can earn it in several ways: by submissions of various kinds to BGG (probably the best way to earn it), such as addenda to rules, photos, reviews, session reports, etc. or by being tipped by entries in threads, modding, etc. You also receive a straight dollar for GG exchange when you become a patron of BGG. It has various uses, including tipping others in threads, GG auctions, lotteries (a fun recent trend) and others.

Here's a link to a far more full explanation: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/GeekGold

Hope this helps.

[Wow...and I thought I was a fast typer...you guys are good.]

Some good ideas have already been shared. The big thing to is dive in and contribute to BGG in whatever fashion you desire. The more you put into it, the more fun you'll have and you'll meet some neat Geek Buddies along the way.

Enjoy the Ride and Game On! thumbsup
