A US attack revealed that the depth marker was a Tactical German reinforcement.

I assume the US attack is then reconfigured against the German unit alone.

If the US attack is successful enough to reveal the depth marker, and that marker is a tactical reinforcement, the German WN unit is eliminated. See Note (1) on the US Attack Chart.

In terms of theme, what's the rationale for the WN unit to be eliminated?
In my mind, I imagine the WN crew abandoning their post and falling back to a nearby denfensive position.
